Welcome to this month's challenge, which is open to all WarBoards members. These challenges require you to acheive some goal, maybe by using a certain strategy and/or using restricted units or whatnot. Or, perhaps, they might just be genuine, crazy fun.

You will be told at the start of each challenge how you will be judged - i.e. you may be given points for speed at completing the task.

This month's challenge:
This month will be a crazy challenge, where you are required to set up the most exciting congo line you possibly can. Details below.

Challenge Rules
» Cheat codes are allowed.
» You may play as any race.
» You may use any Blizzard map.
» You do not have any upgrade / tech tree limitations.
» This task is untimed; take as long as you want.
» You may exploit any AI glitches or game exploits to help you cripple / destroy your opponent.
» This challenge is open to both Vanilla and Brood War players.
» You do not need to defeat the computer.

Congo Lines
Making a congo line is easy. Select one unit and tell it to move onto another unit (actually click "move", don't just right-click). By doing this you can create a chain of units that will follow the one in front of it.

Suggestions:
» Your congo line can be single file, or you can have mulitple units following those in front.
» The entire line should move simply by you moving the first unit around.
» Consider ways to make your congo line unique (i.e. choice of units, set-up, path taken etc).

General Rules
» You must not use any hacks.
» You should play on the melee game type.
» You can only have one entry into the competition, but you are allowed to replace your old entry with a new one as long as entries are still being taken.
» Breaking any of the Competition or General rules may result in lost points or disqualification, depending on how serious the breach is.
» WarBoards staff members are ineligible to enter.
» Your replay should be made playing the latest available patch.
» The judges decision is final, and not up to debate.

Submittal
Your submission should be in the form of a replay by the end of the month (September 30th). For this challenge, the winner will be decided by a public poll.
If you do not wish to make your replay public, you may e-mail it to me at the_schwitzer@hotmail.com.

Points
This month's winner will be decided by a public poll when the challenge is over. Votes will be given for originality, humour and how sheerly amusing your congo line is.

Winning this challenge will earn you a place in the StarCraft Challenge Hall of Fame. :)

I think after any new best time, everyone should have 24 hours to submit a better time, regardless of how close to the deadline it was posted. It irritates me that certain members seem to wait until the deadline to post their winning time. (This of course refers to timed challenges.. doesn't apply to congo lines).

I-L's best time stood for a few days before the challenge ended, but I'll bear that in mind next time I make a speed challenge.

hmmm, a crazy challenge, when I read that I got all exited, but a congo line......................hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm gotta think of SOMETHING!!!

any ideas, tips, hints, or stuff on what we should do?

heres an idea, at the start of every challenge, schwitzer could post an "example" replay, showing what we need to do, for timed challenges it wont be nearly close enough to the best time to give us a strategy, just to show us what to do. for this kind of challenge, it could have some obvious ideas, just to give us an idea on what to do

Heh, if you're really creative, you just might think of something to do involving spellcasters... :o

Would it be against the rules if we took a comp down to just a creep colony or something so that he wouldn't bother us while we made the lines?

he said you could cripple the computer, so thats fine.

also, i would recommend going p against a z and t comp so you can use all the units.

Not sure, but it doesn't matter, as long as everyone else can see it. I already know how it looks, so it doesn't matter.

Oh ok, thanks schwitzer. Now I can see the images once they were hosted as images, instead of an attachment. I still can't see the attachment, but I can see the thumbnails in the Hall of fame.

Well here's my first try. It wouldn't let me save the replay for some reason...so I'm putting the "saved game" file. Just copy the file to the folder Program Files/Starcraft/save/[your sn here], at least this is how I do it. Ugh...took me some time. I tried doing some other tricks but it'll take too long. I'll see if I have the time to make a better one.

ADD: Wtf it didnt accept my snx file...guess i could always email it to him

Another ADD: Oh now I know why...thats cause I saved the game. wth is up with that

Yep... saving your game generally messes up any hopes of saving a proper replay.

Yep... saving your game generally messes up any hopes of saving a proper replay.I learned that the schwitzer way too (corrupted entry for two months ago's challenge)

schwitzer, you should warn people about that so they dont all have to mess up a replay, ask you, then learn not to save

Ok...the first time I remade my congo line i forgot to kill the computer and just exited the game. It didn't give me a chance to save the replay. no biggie just two hours wasted. Second time, I was still too annoyed with the first one I forgot to save the replay. No biggie, just another 2 hours wasted. Mkay on the third try, I actually saved the replay. But I didn't do any fancy loops with the congo line like I did with the first two. So, here it is. I ended it right when I got the congo line completed, don't feel like taking another hour to make fancy loops. You can see why that'll take so long if you look at the replay. This better be one of the better replays =_=.

unholy, the only reason i would say that would have a chance is really only because of the cloaked burrowers. Other than that, the one of every unit is pretty symbolic, but i think you missed the broodling.

Well, I just submited my replay. you guys'll just have to wait till the end to see it for yourselves ^_~

mine. Nothing special. I made a circle around the center of LT and did a nuclear ripple effect, after that you can leave the game cause it's just me destroying the comp after that.

HOW DARE YOU TRY TO UPSERP ME AT THE LAST YOU SERPER! lol seriosly, am i the only one who knows how to take care of the computer to remove those annoying lings and lurkers? Seriously.

Anyways, when is the vote going to begin? I wanna see who else gave in an entry without making it public ^_^ I'd like to see those designs too.

Okey, I'm extremely busy at the moment, but I'll get this challenge voting up and next month's challenge posted when I get a chance to sit down.
