Communism is a political template that just doesn't apply to real life. It may work in theory, perhaps, but there are major political flaws that prevent it from acutally happening.

Anyways, America is NOT going to Communism unless there is some sort of violent overthrow, though I really doubt anything like that is even possible. We've stuck to the Constitution for over 200 years, and democracy works. We're one of the richest, most politically and finanically rich and powerful countries in the entire world. Last time I heard, we've got an economy making over 3 trillion dollars a year. That's some serious cash, amigo.

.the major flaw being human nature

not going over, already is......personally i think its a load of bull myself, but it may spark off some interesting debate.

Which is sorely needed given that the round table seems to be dead.

I have actually read articles that gave some rather convincing arguments that President Bush is leading the United States toward a Communitarian NWO.

While I find most of the information of that site to be stretching the limits of reason a bit too far, this article, from "The New America," made some interesting points. Such as how by allowing the US into trade pacts such as NAFTA, which has a potential to eventually rule over North American trade in a UN like manner, only with actual power (controlling money is power in a market economy). By controlling the economies of North America, this organization, which could be run by a select minority, could, in theory, reign in the controls of most North American governments under its consolidation.

Consider the recent attempt at a constitution for the European Union. An attempt to give an outside power definitive regulatory power over the economies, and to a small extent, the lives of Europeans (wording similar to the Constitution of the U.S.S.R. abounds in the proposed EU Constitution), leaves the pathway open for the member states of the EU to join together under a central government as well. While it appears the majority of British persons would object to this, there is indication of large support for such a movement on the mainland of the Continent.

Considering that NAFTA and other organizations to regulate trade in North America are modeled after the EU, they would logically eventually follow suite. In the process, the U.S. would be forced to give up its sovereign rights as a nation and hand those powers over to international organizations whose sole purpose is to regulate, which could easily become a socialist form of control to an extent that the U.S. would not reach on its own.

While I'm not sure I totally agree with this viewpoint, it does have its merits.

Communisim is a cheap form of dictatorship. Hec it hasent done Russia any favors. Look at what a dump it is. The movies with the Russian tanks going through the streets is cool. The Soviet Union was built on one thing slavery. Oh lets see when the slaves die, the soviet union died as well. If the USA was built on one thing take that away and BOOM there goes your dream. Bush isnt leading the US towards Communism. The US sticks to its Constitution for a long time and they are still holding on tight. Communism dosent work.

The United States are not delving into Communism. If anything, they are going down the path of Fascism.

The fourth article states that “emigrants and rebels” will have all real property taken from them. Today, we do this to alleged drug dealers, pimps, gangsters, thieves, tax protestors, and anyone else that can be scooped into the asset forfeiture net.
This is quite a weak point. Obviously those that go against the law will be punished, and this is not Communism!

“Centralization of the means of communication and transportation into the hands of the state,” is the sixth platform of the “Communist Manifesto.” Communication control has been implemented on a global level. Associated Press controls American news. Reuters takes care of Europe. Etc. Etc. Every telephone is under strict guidelines imposed by the federal government. The American regime claims a de facto right to search anyone flying, including old ladies and the handicapped. We must have insurance, title, identification, driver’s license, auto registration, and vehicle inspection to drive. Furthermore, your car must adhere to ecological standards, even as the global corporations pollute on a level that could never be rivaled. Finally, you must wear a seat belt, can’t talk on the phone, and must drive at the speed limit. Truly, travel and communications have been controlled in the United States.
This is more of a Fascist idea than a Communist one. To quote Benito Mussolini: "Fascism should more appropriately be called Corporatism because it is a merger of state and corporate power." The power of the corporations in the United States is overwhelming. We praise the American economy as being one of the most powerful, but where does this economy come from? Corporations. Of course, corporations rarely follow standards set by the government. Rather than change their ways, they will just pay the pollution fines. Corporations are the reason the United States is so powerful; corporations are the reason America could become a Fascist State. "Everything in the State, nothing outside the State, nothing against the State."

The tenth and final plank in Karl Marx’s “Communist Manifesto” reads, “Free education for all children in public schools.” Many would say that America needs public, government schools. Without those, our children would not be able to compete. Yet, it is because of those very same schools that our children can no longer get by in the global market. Even Indians and Pakistanis can speak two or more languages, have knowledge of advanced math, and grasp World History. In America, almost half of all kids graduate illiterate. Most can’t speak proper English, don’t know their multiplication table up to twelve, and can’t tell you who the Vice President is.

Why does the author address India and Pakistan specifically, as if they were unintelligent countries? What respect the author had from me disappeared as I read this paragraph.

Really now? Because I thought the Soviet Union collapsed because of economic stagnation due to their inability to keep up with technological innovations, less necessity to rely upon Russian products by the world, a large ineffective bureacracy, little incentive to work harder, and the solidarity movements.

And OPEC flooding the market with cheap oil. That was a big factor in the collapse of the SU cause' it took the wind right out of their oil sails.

Karl Marx said that Communism will become far more prevalent as natural resources on Earth run dry. This event was proof; the overabundance of oil brought Communism down.

America being a communist state is nearly laughable. Facist, in certain people's wet dreams, but the necessary force to overthrow the capitalist system would be .. a lot, to say the least.

This thing ("American comunism") amuzed me as much to someone comparing F.Castro to H.Clinton or J.Kerry. :D

The political stance of the U.S., alas imo, is more right wing driven (aka conservative).
See for instance, that the Democratic Party is mostly center right. As for the Republicans, won't even comment on it... since you already know where they stand. :P

There is a small matter that you may have overlooked. Fascism is bred from fear, fear is derived from perception, and the perception of terrorism is given to us by our government via the media. Should terrorism ever escalate in this country, you could see a rather abrupt shift towards fascism without so much as a blink of the eye. And you would see the American public supporting it, just as the German public supported it in the 40's. I would not underestimate the public's desire for security, as this concept is by far the most precious to the average citizen.

Of course, no matter how much people swear by freedom all anyone wants is to know tommorow will be much the same as today. Usually, by wishing this, they ensure it wont be.

The cost of freedom is vigilance. It is not a right - it must be earned

In the Fascist revolution, capitalism is not so much overthrown as it is assimilated. Fascism is more of a governmental doctrine, and less of an economic one. The idea behind Fascism is the exchange of freedom for security. Exactly as Nuts said, the citizens' need for security will lead them unwittingly into a Fascist regime. As James Madison said, oppression will come to this country in the guise of a war, and that is exactly what is happening right now in the United States of America.

Agree with Nuts here.

Alas, imao that's where the U.S. admin seems to be heading. And that's what I was implying with my 1st post. When your ideals strike further away from the center (sinonym of balance and/or tolerance in politic stands), it gets easier for you to take drastic measures n' only thinkin'em better later. Sometimes when that reflection time arrives, it's already too late.

That's why I say, that many of the presented times, that extremes, no matter from where they come (right, left wing or even religious) aren't the ideal way to solve things. Most of the times. ;)
