Stress Test...open to ANYONE???

I am currently reading about a stress test, which aparently is open to anyone...

ITS 6 and more news is here!!

Apparently theres a stress test, open to anyone, BUT, fileplannet subscribers get the first slots, and in a few days they will open it up to the cheap people (who dont pay up) and anyone can sign up. This test will last for 7 days, and you will have full access to the beta version of the game, however it might lag because it is a stress test. After those 7 days, your account will be deleted...BUT WONT IT BE GREAT WHILE IT LASTS???? :D

Yeah, I heard about that, but I rather not go through the hassle. I mean I'd rather just buy the game, if I wanted to play it that badly.

As far as how great the closed stress test will be . . . expect a lot of lag, and a lot of crashes. Since it's only a week, most of the more enjoyable content won't be available. Remember that you're not playing for your own enjoyment really, moreso to test the game and the servers so they'll be stable on retail. I just hope it doesn't affect the main beta servers . . .

On the same note, it's still a great way to get acquainted with the WoW universe, get an idea of where everything is, get an idea of what to do for the first few levels, etc. Hope everyone enjoys it while it lasts ^_^.

EDIT: Problem. The zip file wouldn't work, said there were either multiples or corrupt. Luckily, I had the download window still open, I'm dling again. If the problem continues I'll bring this to the tech support forum or E-mail Blizzard. I don't want to miss out on this!

I had the same problem. Download the latest winzip.

I wish my cable was as fast as all of yours' is. Mine crawled for 2.5 hours.

How long did it take everyone to install it? 21 bloomin' minutes over here.

not sure how long it took to actually install, maybe 10 minutes? my dl crawled for THREE AND A HALF WHOLE HOURS! but I am behind a wireless network with my MAX downstream bandwidth limited to 1.5 MBs or so

Problem solved. Winzip upgrade did it. It took me one hour, 41 minutes to download, and about fifteen minutes to install.

Anyone know when we can actually play now?

I'm having the hardest time finding money! Is the (forgive me) "shiny stuff" that appears when you kill the little critters gold? And if so, how do you pick it up? It's frustrating seeing these people with their fancy weapons, and me with a....dagger >.<

Hey, Maeg, who and where are you? I'm a dwarf named Canto (account name EdvardMunch) on Khaz'goroth server. Maybe we can make new characters and journey together.

The little shiny stuff means that you haven't examined your corpse yet (I don't think you can loot the corpse of a monster killed by another player). Right click the corpse and a screen should pop up that allows you to loot it. Or the corpse might be empty.

For money, I just sell whatever junk I find on corpses mostly. It ain't bad. Can't wait until I can mine.

I should also point out two of the most useful keys in the game:

NumLock - Autorun. It's great for running long distances and talking to party members while doing so.
Tab - Autoselects the next, nearest monster. Awesome when there are tricky camera angles.

If you guys need any help in any way (ie. locations of places//people, how to use tradeskills, spells, talents, etc., feel free to ask me ^_^.

I normally dont like that kind of game, specifically I dont' like everqeust, but WoW kept me playin from when I got home from school til now!!! amazing!!1 even starcraft cant do that....I'm not kidding...it cant

I now see how one could easily waste away in front of WoW and never have a real life at all. And the lag on the stress test isnt that bad either!!! apart from WAAAYYYY too many people camping in the noob area, its prety good!!! I'm still tyrin to do that first quest in the noob area caus so many people camp there. btw I'm a night elf. bluemicrobyte to be exact. sorry couldn't think of a good elf name and night elf would kill me if I named it "Tranquil_Night_Elf" caus thats what I was thinkin of....

Since it's in stress test, I would imagine most of the new player areas will be horribly packed. Your best bet is to really quickly find a good group, get the first 10 levels quickly and head out somewhere else. After level 10 you can start doing some of the lower level Westfall quests and then after that head to Loch Modan where the crowding shouldn't be that bad yet.

I have a key, but I can't get the file to finish downloading, ever. I've tried several times. I'm downloading at about 100 mbps, but it always gets interrupted or timeouts.

hmm, my firend is suffering from the same problem you have, grass. There are alternate servers, theres a list you pick from when you download it. Try again.

radlin: I'm just following the quests as any typical noob would. but its still great fun!!!!!
