StarEdit.net (http://www.staredit.net/) and Custom Maps (http://www.custommaps.org/forums/) have some tutorials. I like Custom Maps because SaltMan hangs out there.
BMP2SCM
It converts bitmaps to StarCraft maps using the tiles.
Somebody told me the download was here:
http://www.veebers.net/download.php?view.2
But it's an unneccesarily large download. I made my own version (took out some files) here:
http://rdd.150m.com/BMP2SCM.zip
My prime number generator is also on that server, http://rdd.150m.com/prime, dunno why you would want it. It's not SC related...
If it tells you that you need com...something.ocx, you can download it at http://teamse.x-boxnight.com (http://teamse.x-boxnight.com/). Go to editors and download Common Controls. Unzip the ocx into C:\windows\system.
-------
Oh yeah, you might want to know that PROEdit 1.2 (you have 1.1) and StarForge 2.0 (you have 1.2b) is out. SF 2.0 is a HUGE update. Both your links are ok, just change the descriptions.

Ah I would post triggers 9-12, but the upload won't accept the file types... ARG!
EDIT: So I put them in this map. I believe this is pretty useful, in conjunction with starforge.

x-boxnight.com is down. That means your Starforge links and PROEdit no longer work.
What about BMP2SCM?
Your togi link doesn't work unless you are logged in to BlizzForums.

I'm sure most of you already know this, but it turns out that, regardless of the size of a location, only a certain amount of units may be made in it. If you make any more units, they will pop up as that annoying buzz and the "cannot create more [unit]" errors. This is a listing of every unique unit and the max amount of that unit which may be made in a location.
Keep in mind that this does not include combinations, like I imagine you could make 81 hydras and 3 zerglings. That will (maybe) come in a later update. This assumes that the location is empty.
Zergling: 253
Hydralisk: 82
Ultralisk: 41

I finally got around to making a map to test the sizes of units. It isn't extensive, but here's the size of nearly all the units
All Zerglings: 16x16
All Ghosts + Infested Kerrigan: 15x22
Mutalisk, Guardian, Devourer, and Kukulza: 44x44
All Ultralisks:38x32
All Wraiths: 38x30
All BCs: 75+ x59 (Max size to test was 75... didn't think anything would pass that)
All Vultures: 32x32
All Workers: 23x23
All DTs: 24x26
Raszagal: 49x37
Corsair: 36x32
Broodling: 19x19
Lurker:32x32
All Scouts: 36x32
All Arbiters: 44x44
All Archons: 32x32
Templar and Tassadar: 24x24
Aldaris: 24x28
All Dragoons: 32x32
All Tanks and Seiged: 32x32
Firebat: 23x22
Montag: 23x28 (Wha?)
All Zealots: 23x19
All Hydralisks: 21x23
Valeryie: 49x37
All Marines: 17x20

Pixels, yes. I used locations to test this. I also noted, that Ultralisks can fit in a 2x1 strip of land, but not a 1x2 strip.

Turning a PAT file into an EXE:
1)select Import .pat
2)Find the .pat
3)Find some random stat_txt.tbl (this is a useful feature, but it isn't important if you are just importing a patch)
4)Click on the last tab in Memgraft and change patch_rt to the name of your mpq file
5)go back to the main page and click on Save Release.
6)Save the .mgd file as follows: (in mod folder) Custom/mgpatch.mgd
7)Save the .exe wherever named as whatever
8)Make sure that all components of Patch_rt.mpq is in your mod mpq
9)compile said mod mpq and place in SC folder
10)run exe.

I noticed your doing a direct link to proedit.
You will need to change that to the page, which is http://www.staredit.net/index.php?download=313 instead of the direct download. I enabled antileech protection from other websites, mainly because some huge korean sites were using scripts to mask where the mirror is coming from, which was me, and taking my bandwidth without any credit to who hosts it.

There are another tutorials over the fan sites I've discovered a few time's back...
- StormCoast Fortress (http://www.stormcoast-fortress.net/index.php?file=gaming/starcraft/tutorials/index.php) main tutorials list. It seems that some of the links in the main list are missing.
There are more in the left side column, just take a peek... ;)
- Sovereign Modding Empire tutorials (http://www.smempire.org/tutorials/index.php). More modding related... :worship:
- Campaign Creations tutorials (http://www.campaigncreations.org/starcraft/stardraft/index.shtml). They start more StarDraft related... and then develop in2 some other similar areas. :)
I never could link in2 Entrophy 0 site to see what does it possess inside, maybe some other 'kind' folk will do so... *Hint, hint* :D
Add: No 1 seems 2 have mentioned the SC AI Edit 3. Here's the link at SC.org (http://www.starcraft.org/customs/resources.shtml).

wow, this really sucks. im trying to get back into modding, so i want to do iscript editing. so i already know icecc can't work on my computer because of the local drive and i can't change the letter of the local drive, i tried to dling ice, and i installed it, but it won't show animation previews for anything and for every single animation it sayas no animaion data.
is there any way i can do iscript editing on this computer? (and no i'm not going to re-install windows just to be able to do isciript editing)

If you can open IceCCUI.jar, go to preferences and and add E:\IceCC\ to the top four boxes.
It should look something like this, assuming your drive is E:.

Hmm... well, i just tried that, and it still won't decompile. ("icedc: error: loading config files failed: could not open C:\IceCC\data\arr\units.dat")
i can't seem to open the File menu now either...
StealthyDeath
10-05-2004, 5:48 PM
Delete everything from the IceCC folder and reinstall it again as E:\IceCC. Do the same steps as before except after data do not put the forward slash, \ and add .exe after icedc.
Replace the icedc.exe and icecc.exe with the ones that are located in this MPQ too.
It should work now because I modified the EXEs to locate E:\ instead of C:\.

Which map editor is the best? by UED77
There is no single answer. Those who give you one are either inexperienced or too biased. SCMDraft is probably the best tool for terraining, but it lacks triggers. For that, use either StarEdit or SCXE. Starforge should be your choice if you either wish to manipulate triggers as if they were plain text, or if you would like to place units that snap to a customizable grid. You can even enter the coordinates in the unit dialog to move the unit to another place.

I'm hosting most of those files that point to trickznstuff anyway.

The link to the WinMPQ thing is down, and I assume all links to starcraft.org are down considering the virus dealy thing. When are they going to get around to putting all the modding stuff back up?
I have WinMPQ, I just want the listfile so that all those freaking "unknowns" go away. Does anyone know where I can download it?
On an exceptional note, here it is (http://www.warboards.org/showpost.php?p=151970&postcount=6).
Btw, if you use the WB's search feature you'd prob'ly had found it already (http://www.warboards.org/search.php?searchid=37270). Just like I did. ;)
