How did you come to Warboards?

Well, since there isnt a thread on this already, here it is!! Post your stories; how did YOU come to be at warboards?

I actually joined Warboards to spam/advertise my website, and that might be why some of you think I spam/advertise too much, because the firsts posts you saw from me were advertisements... and thats how I came to warboards!!! (yep lame boring story, maybe we'll hear some beter ones)

I'm afraid a lot of posts are gonna be just like PC's. Mine is.

I was in BlizzSCUMS when the whole destruction of management thing happened, but I didn't pay much attention to what happened in the general forums, so I was clueless when I read somewhere what happened. As for how I actually got the link... I'm pretty sure it was PM'd to me, because by the time I got the link, www.warboards.org was already phrase banned at BF. I had to make posts calling it www.warb0ards.org (the 1337 capitol of the internet!).

The switch wasn't much of a big deal for me. I got a few PMs asking things like "where do you stand?" I'm like "whatever". Doom_Dragoon is going over there and BSTRhino hasn't been wrongfully banned for BS reasons, so WB sounds like a better place. That and I'd be among the first to join, so I'm pretty much guaranteed the ability to pull rank by seniority. Too bad nobody does that anymore.

AJ advertised at BattleForums in the wrong forum, so I stalked him here.

Actually, I read his side, and went over to the other side to check it out, loved this place more and stayed. I think it is the largest Advertising thread at BattleForums so far. :)

And, he got off for it. WE WERE SUPPOSED TO WARN YOU but we didn't.

I talked to BSTRhino the day before all this happend, and he told me about a website that was starting soon. Since he was banned at BF, and I wanted to make more SC maps with him, how could I refuse the offer to work with him again? I came to WB the next day once it opened up.

Back on-topic. I was just getting used to BF when this all happened, and I pretty much missed it. However, I was quite keen on Diplomacy, and I joined the only game at BlizzForums at the time. OboeGuru was in it, and when the GM just booked it he suggested that we move over here, and I've been ever since. That was around April, so maybe a month and a half after WB opened?

Last night (while drunk) i was on the BF IRC channel when Carnage came on and went kekekekeke...then logged off. So I asked wtf was going on and someone else posted that Carnage had got fed up on YOUR IRC channel and threatened to go to the BF one. So he did, long story short I checked you guys out, and here I am.

Well, my story is almost the same as Edvard's. And I guess all my fellow mappers (ZeroDarkStar, StealthyDeath, Dark_Soul74, Nozomu, DJtwon, IceFlare) came because of the same reason. I was the one to send the PMs around, telling the guys about WB and that it will have a mapmaking team (yes, I'm kinda proud of that). So I'm one of the first ones, with a member ID of 43.
But since all this was on the 8th of February, 2004, the homework-abundant months of march, april, and may followed, thus I have much less posts than ZeroDarkStar has, who is one of the most active posters here.

um... anyway, i got here from sc.org, origonally because i couldnt find an answer to my modding questions (im a mapper now) i dont exactly remember how i found sc.org though... after a while, i made friendships with people, and then THEN is when i discovered the glorious world of general forums... not to say there better then the SC forum of course ^_^.

Well ya see, my story is quite interesting.

Radlin told me all about how he had these wicked cool friends online. I wanted some cool friends online. Then he told me about this magical mysitcal place where you could come and express you personal opinion about different topics. I was quite intrigued, even though I had no experence playing any type of Blizzard game. I still don't. :<

So one day when Radlin wasn't around I ran on over to Warboards.org and took a look around. Was I excited? Yes I was. I wanted to become a member. I signed up right then and for about a month or so I kept it a secret from Radlin ( I was afraid he would laugh at me ). Then I accidently told him about my posts. We laughed together.

That's how I became a memeber! :)

Starcraft.org, which, i can no longer stand participating in the survey polls anymore, i would always write a speech then half of the time when i clicked send, the next screen would be an error screen, then when i clicked back, all my text was gone. And speeches liek that are not so easiy to rerpoduce, in fact, almost impossible.

How did i get to sc.org? I dont honestly remember. I think i was link hopping from some lame ass hack site i was referred to from battle.net.

Fragged originated from quake, another word for the annoying 'Pwned!' Feel free to laugh at me for that.

Anyway, I got here through Starcraft.org as a recommendation from BSTRhino (I love you too!) when someone in the polls wanted to make a poll on the best Starcraft.Org debater. It was after a long series of polls where (the only one I think is at this forum) Gia, myself, and a few others had heated arguements on simple matters like 'Red or Blue?' Someone recommended the next poll be who was best at argueing over stupid stuff (sorry if thats insulting Gia lol) and BSTRihno asked it be created here. I registered, took that task apon myself, and here I am.

Gia, yes, a lot of us come from WarBoards from another previous reincarnation of this same community called BlizzForums. That reincarnation still exists, so the community in a way has been split in two. Unfortunately a lot happened that night when WarBoards.org was created. Also, at WarBoards.org, every staff member has previous experience as a moderator so far. During what you call this 'genesis' phase, pretty much all of only the best staff were taken over from BlizzForums to WarBoards.org. We weren't giving away free modships, we were actually being really selective. And I have to say, our community is really lucky to have some of the most experienced and caring staff of any forum on the internet. If you've been to other forums, or know the challenges of looking after a forum, you might realise how lucky you guys are.

Also, I should make it clear that WarBoards.org wasn't started out of spite. It was done because we wanted the ORG Network to follow a dream of its own. Like Edgewize said, BlizzForums is a great site, but it's not our site. Now we're free to follow our own goals with the ORG Network.

Well, I had just joined up to BF, before my friend showed me where to get some cool ideas for Warcraft, which happened to be the Battle Planning and Strategy Forum :)

Anyways, I thought it was pretty cool, but I had already begun posting on BF, so I reluctantly neglected to post on WB (I'm not exactly a multi-tasker -- it's one forum or the other for me). On BF, I managed to get into a heated debate with Marsala, who constantly ranted on and on, flaming and whatnot. After the thread was closed, that dickhead started to spam me with annoying PM's. I couldn't be bothered putting up with it, and, seeing as though I had not been there long, I remembered the forums here. So here I am :)
