Of course! If Kerrigan was able to engineer new zerg breeds for an expansion then why wouldn't she for a new game? Plus there is the stuff in the deception map about the UED haveing plans for a prototype Skulder unit. Protoss...I don't know. I can't think of a way to add new units beside an Dark/high templar merge.

SCII wouldent be as much fun if it were only a revamped BW. Sure there will be alot of fun to be had if it were only single player. However, if there were no new units B-net would be a waist of time and money. I for one, wouldent spend 50 bucks just to play a slightly graphically enhanced BW.

maybe star craft may end up kind of like warcraft frozen throne a couple of new units and new maps. but what am i saying of course it is

Of course more units, and different types of units too. I also think there should be some kind of abilities that each army should get (i.e. Each side should have some kind of Orbital Bombardment or something like that.:)

I just hope they don't make the tech trees so blatantly similar across the races, like it is in WC. I mean, just look at the tech trees - they're practically identical! Each of StarCraft's races are quite unique... I could go on about this... I never play WC3 melee... since it's so depressing... yaknow...

Of course there should be! Kerrigan will assimilate new creatures like the Benglass, and the Terrans
are working on something like the skullder 001, then the dark templar will reveal the rest of their tech. I mean come on! Only one ship and an archon in a couple millenia of being separated! I don't think so!

there should be new units, but not a whole lot. if you add too many than it becomes cluttered and confusing, and not fun.
they need to replace some units as well. I think they should upgrade certain units and give them a new name (wraith II, with a bomber mode it can switch to, a la siege mode, and maybe a new vulture type unit). I'm not sure which units they should totally replace, but at least a couple should be scrapped to make room. they should only have a total of 2-4 more units per race than they have now.

I think the real question is, should we get rid of the old units in StarCraft 2 and replace them? I mean, if they're going to make a huge change in StarCraft 2, it might be necessary.
Of course, things like, Marines, Battlecruisers, Zerglings and things would stay in there, but I think it'd be great if some units were replaced, or heavily modified, as well as having new units in StarCraft 2. It'd be good because no one wants to play the same game all over again, even though StarCraft is a great game, we want something new.

I think they should totally revamp the ghost. Non-concussive another special ability and increased durability. The only thing ghhost are good for now is lockdown,nuke, and well.. Nothing else really..

I hear that dude. there attacks are unbelievable weak. however, lockdown can be VERY effective.:beer:
they should probably replace the vulture. the terrans are probably the slowest race ( you usually have to use a slow tank push to win, and BCs are like flying glaciers), so a speedy unit like that is out of character.
I think the real question is, should we get rid of the old units in StarCraft 2 and replace them? I mean, if they're going to make a huge change in StarCraft 2, it might be necessary.
maybe we should start a new thread on that, or maybe what units should be dropped?

I think that they should only have a few more myself. the problem is, almost all the units are unique and beloved (who could ever want to get rid of wraiths or high templars?), so culling the units to make way for the new could be difficult. (on a side note, I want a better terran spellcaster)

I don't want existing units to be replaced or modified into new ones. And with the exception of maybe some new air units, spellcasters, etc, I don't think there's much that needs to be done except for enhancing current units a bit. Maybe instead of a few new units they can add a few more structures. Some new static defenses that are higher in the tech tree and are more effective. Like plasma artillery cannons for protoss or some acid lobbing unit for zerg. A slow moving warhead, but a long range, ideal for taking out units from a longer distance.
Consider the C&C games.
Command & Conquer (awesome) -> Tiberian Sun (horrible)
Red Alert (great) -> Red Alert 2 (decent)
Both games completely changed the tech trees (with the exception of a few units and structures). When I played these games, I was hoping for more an extension of the old game, and I missed the old units. Both of these sequels did not match up with their original counterparts. Of all the C&C games I've played, the original game is best.
Brood war's new units was enough. I don't think SC2 should change much from the original game.

one unit i would like to see is something ( and it might be able to work for each race) is a unit that u put others in like a dropship, but its offensive. like a jeep that u put marines in, almost like the warthog in halo. u put in three marines and each marine can target a different unit so it would be like a mobile bunker. the zerg could put hydras on teh back of an ultra and have some anti air while it anhiliates the ground forces. but for protoss im at a loss

I mean it is a feasble possiblity.Definitely, there should be more buildings. The new buildings for toss and terran should be able to branch out from existing buildings like the hatchery, spire, and colonies
