Ok heres a good one for you guys. With is the most useful non-Hero unit in Warcarft3?

That's a tough one and definitely open to personal opinion, especially because Warcraft3 encourages the mixing of units to overcome the power of a group of one unit type.

I would personally go with the orc Shaman. He's cheap and only uses 2 food, and all his spells are useful against different types of threats. Bloodlust is great for completely beefing up your army and can be done quickly for a low mana cost. Lightning Shield is an excellent (and very under-used) spell that helps counter masses of low HP units, such as ghouls, footmen, archers, etc. It's the only non-hero AoE damage spell aside from Mana Flare. Purge is also great at stopping summons (screw you archmage and beast master) as well as stopping fleeing units so that they can be finished off.

The workers, of course. Without them, you wouldn't have a base; let alone heros.

Crypt Fiends - I dont know what to do without them

They are cheap, fast to build, and with a lot of them (Not to mention good support: heros, statues, abomination... etc.) they can really ... err... win

OK... im tied between three...

HUMAN MORTARS--
Explanation: If you mass these, and provide some air and melee cover, these things can rip apart any thing in there path. It's awesome to make like 24 of these with an ally that is providing melee and range support, and then have him attack the main army, and you go behind and rip apart their base. Very well worth it, especially with all of the upgrades.

ORC SHAMAN--
Explanation: As someone mentioned before, the shaman is a very good unit. How can you go wrong with all of those spells, and the fact that he wears that awesome outfit?! He has purge (which is great for doing away with fleeing heroes), bloodlust (OMG this is the ultimate tool for all Orcers), and lightning shield, which is awesome against footmen and gouls, and can work well if you put it on the enemies peons during an assault ;) !!

TROLL WITCH DOCTOR--
Explanation: Sentry Ward is so Awesome! I mean, comon, 10 whole minutes of an invisible eye that can see ALL there is in the place you place it. Is very good if you manage to sneak one into an enemies base, and, I heard you can make a wall of them if you micro correctly ;)! This way, you can enter the enemy base when the enemy's army isn't there, and then ward all the entrances and exits until you've finished killing all in the base. Also, Healing Ward really helps quite a bit, and Statis Trap ward is so awesome. I mean, comon.... Statis Trap behind the enemy and he can't retreat, Statis trap in the enemy and he's frozen, and Statis Trap in front of the enemy, where you are, and then run, and he's frozen and you can get away. There's no reason not to have one of these guys on your army if you're playing orc.

you cant make a ward wall...it would require dozens, and plus i think wards have zero mass value.

are you lokking fo best support of best offensive?
well the best support i think are stats, its insane how they can keep a army fighting

Dragons(the big ones) from dragon roost. They cost that much money and have such a long start time for a reason :P. Anything that does chaos damage is worth buying :P.

Raiders would be cool if they were a little better at fighting as melee, make them able to compete with huntress and they would be worth more.Helping armies own heros, magic imune units, air units. Raiders just make orc that much more powerful. 3-4 can keep a hero in one place for ever and you don't have to worry about them running out of mana like shams and their slightly faster speed allows them to often be where they need to be. With a few raiders you don't have to worry about the enemy hitting and running which is a strategy that orc tends to have problems with stopping. Interesting that they counter the very thing they are made for though :P.

the best unit there is for Warcraft in my opinion would be the gargoyal.

they mass
they heal thru gargoayal statue

the faerie dragon is the most useful non hero unit, it is a perfect caster counter, next to the bm am or even the pl's aoe spells, and maybe even teh wardens fok spell its teh most effective caster killer

I agree with whoever said mortars and witch doctors.

Mortars are deadly support, and they can tear apart a base very quickly. Since all you need to do is kill the buildings, concentrate on siege.

Witch doctors are almost invincible between healing ward and stasis trap. Even one or two of them can keep your army alive for twice as long. Plus, sentry ward rocks. You can time your attacks and laugh at the player who thinks you're hacking. Loads of fun.

It really IS a matter of opinion, and depends on your primary strategy. Most of the good units are casters or seige equipment, purely because they are designed to be support, and complement whatever makes up the bulk of your army. However, there are a few units that are good in pretty much any situation:

Orc Demolisher- Simply the best siege unit in the game. Massive damage, long range, and the burning oil pwns, plus splash damage is insane
Orc Shaman- Bloodlust is one of the greatest spells in the game IMO. Lightning shield is good on anti-caster, and purge can really help on heroes, especially if you have Wind Riders of Demos. (Purge to slow, then FF their asses to the ground. Try it.)
Orc Witch Doctor- Witch Doctors are wonderful. Their wards can make things happen. Sentry Wards are very useful for keeping an eye of the enemy. the Stun Wards can seriously piss an enemy army off, and Healing Wards...well...do I even NEED to explain?

Human Sorceress- What can I say? Slow is wonderful, Polymorph is REALLY helpful against strong ground like Huntresses or Taurens. I don't use Invisibility much, but it can help with a Mass TP Siege Engine drop into enemy base
Human Mortar Team- Mortars are simply amazing. Flare can help spot towers before you run into them, and Fragmentation Shards or w/e it is can help them kill units. Coupled with Sorc slow, we got another fast Hero killer combo.
Human Priest- Priests are wonderful. Dispel can tear into Skeletons and other summoned units, in addtion to dispelling offensive Over-Time spells (Curse, Lightning Shield, etc.), and removing enemy buffs. Heal is obvious, and Inner Fire is great, especially on Knights. Fully Armor-Teched Knights with Inner Fire reduce like 85% damage, making them Tank as good as Mountain Giants.

Night Elf Chimera- Do I even need to say this one? Chims are very powerful, and can level armies very quickly
Night Elf Druid of the Claw- Probably one most people wouldn't choose, but I have had GREAT success with them. In Bear form, DotCs are extremely powerful melee units, and have only improved since the Mark of the Claw upgrade was release (allows Roar casting while in Bear form). Rejuvenation is wonderful, and roar really helps.
Night Elf Dryad- Dryads are very useful. Slow Poison is good for stopping heroes, and allows easy FF. Abolish magic is also useful. Their Magic Immunity makes them very effective against dominate air units (i.e. Gryphon, Chimera, Frost Wyrm).

Undead Statue- Statues are very obvious. Their mana and health regen can be a great benefit, especially to Heroes, which can heal the melees and allow that Lich to get one more Frost Nova in, which CAN turn the tide sometimes.
Undead Necromancer- Necromancers are simply amazing. A very good repetoire of skills, then support anything in the game. Skeletons can provide meat, plus large, disposable armies you can use to seriously piss people off, or simply kill them altogether. Cripple is wonderful against Heroes and powerful units, like Chims and Taurens, and Unholy Frenzy makes Aboms really mean.
Undead Gargoyle- The Undead Gargoyle is the best anti-air unit in the game. Fast movement, fast attack, and flying, these creatures do huge damage to air units, and have the added bonus of being melee. This is a bonus, because when backed up by Vamp Aura, they are almost impossible. A most have for a team facing strong air, especially Chims or Gryphons

For orcs, Witch doctors are almost as good as it whould've been a small hero in itself. Good with troll berserks in the back, and uh - Myrmadions of the Naga pack a punch. As for humans, knights who are buffed up can challenge fate in many ways..though they could need some ground-to-air support, or vice versa. Anyhow - Night Elves are phat. What else can someone ask for? Druid of the Talon. Why you say? For a good reason - In masses, they can do some damage, along with a melee hero. They go ground-to-air, and are ranged backup, and can cyclone any hero threaths or strong units heading their way, and in numbers, they can cyclone a whole army, then run along, hit and run attacking. Then faerie..hmm...yeah. Not totally kick-ass, but hey, you get really what you pay for. And undead? Shhh.. 1 Banshee and 1 Necromancer, with 2 Abonomations guarding them, the banshee taking care of making attacking units miss (Curse) - And the necromancers cripple, and raise skeletons. The abonimations take care of ambushers back and fronth, cleaving trough their skulls! Go-go-go...Crypt-Fiends!

I think i would go for the wolf riders, as the are good as melee combatants and siege units.
Their ensare is also a reason why I like them very much.

An other reason is that they are so deadly
in great numbers.

Anything is deadly in great numbers. Except Wisps, unless they have a massive army of skeletons or something.

I think Peasants of Humans are good to fend of an only-unit raid, especially when all peasents who worked, gather togheter in large numbers and become a super force of miltias, argh!!! Very effective against early raids, togheter with a hero in the back for support and perhaps a few real military units, or archers...also real military units, ment melee...

I love the Troll Witch Doctor, its wards serve many purposes, plus it makes a descent ranged fighter when properly upgraded.

For me the witch doctors are the best unit, i always use them, its too usefull, specially when you are running from a battle, just put some stasis traps an get out of there, but theres a problem with humans, the priests see them an disspell them... the healing wards too, so try to get a lot of doctors to get a lot of healing wards.... put sentry wards too the are the best friends of your game, itīs like map hacking ;).... your opponent will think you cheat, thatīs so funny.... hahahaha...

Best unit IMO: Necromancer; ultimate slow spell, ultimate berserk spell, and a single nec can create a small army, 6 and your pummeling everything with skellies.

Kamikazie190

Human spellbreaker. They OWN enemy casters, anything bad the enemy puts on you you put back on them, anything good the enemy puts on them you steal from them. Its great to see a wall of shaman and grunts suddenly shrink and your own knights and rifleman double in size in a single instant. Plus, they drain mana from the enemy and deal extra damage when they do, and when upgraded, all summons become useless cause you can take control of them if you micro correctly.

Healing wards will save you and sentry wards will let you build up an army to counter theirs. Stasis trap makes them easy targets b*tch.

One word... Raiders. They rock and roll against units and buildings alike, and plus they have their snazzy nets to bring down air units.

Crypt fiends are also very good, and almost seem like the Raider's rnaged counterpart.

There's my $0.37.

There's my $0.37.Dam took the words outta my mouth. Raider is definetly one of the most fun units in the game. Make a force of about 6 of em (it takes like a minute with 2 beastiaries) and march them on one side of an enemy base. Then on the other side send your heroes and some junk units. Draw the enemy's attention, run back a little, attack some more, draw back a little, and when the enemy is kinda far from thier base send the raiders in with their pillage. Total rape, plus when the enemy comes back to defend their town run the raiders away. This would give you like 300-500 gold plus more time to make more raiders. Keep doing this to drive the enemy crazy and make them paranoid.
