Legacy of the City of Clouds - Chapter II
After the group of the chosen was disappeared.
The cult of the Goddess shattered when the priestesses heard the tradegy of their Goddess' chosen. They just lost
faith to her.
Most of the priestesses lost their beliefs, and their blessings.
The Goddess was old.. weakened. Her powers were imbued in the amulets, which were in the rogue metropolis.
No one knew of their power. The ones who tried to wear them died, because their minds weren't clear enough. The people, thought that the amulets were cursed, and the amulets were stored in the tallest tower in the city, built before the City of Clouds was founded by the Nobles.
Legacy of the City of Clouds - Chapter III: New ways
Part 1: Beginning.
The Goddess had lifepower for only about ten years.
She used her last major powers to jump to the corporeal world, but was still ethereal.
After some time, she found a suitable host body, and possessed her. She was in the body of a young girl, older people had the willpower to question the weakened goddess. The girl's original soul was now the unquestioning slave under the very will of the Goddess.
The divine-infested girl disappared from her home, driven by the voice of Goddess. She travelled around the Dark
Kingdom*1 for some years. Meanwhile, in the very capital of the Dark Kingdom, the aura of power emitting from the amulets is causing restlessness in the working class. The kingdom could barely control itself.
The girl met many of the mysterious people living in and on the surface (mainly goblins*2, elves*3), and many humans.
Finally, she found the perfect people for the quest. The little-known, even legendary amazons.
The amazons usually didn't allow anyone to enter their areas, which were basically jungles. Anyone who was crazy enough to even come to the jungle, died almost surely, either to the jungle environment or to the poison dart of an amazon.
Luckily, the amazons are spiritual. They sensed the spirit inside the girl, and let her come to their village, which was mounted on ancient trees.
The amazons led the girl to their chieftess, which also sensed the power inside her.
"So, girl, or should i say, spirit?" says the chieftess calmly.
"Yes, I have possessed this girl. I am the last goddess existing, and I'm about to fade..." says the girl in spiritual voice.
"I feel your power, and I think you're telling the thruth. What do you need from us?" asks the chieftess.
"I have stored my remaining powers on amulets, which were supposed to distribute the powers to the... next generation. I couldn't control their destinies properly, because my powers were in those amulets. Now the amulets are kept in the capitol of the Dark Kingdom.. and they need proper hosts. I have examined many species, and you are the most suitable hosts for the divine powers. If the amulets have no users when I'm fading for ever, I fear this world is lost..." explains the girl, in the same voice.
"That is interesting.. I shall ask from the council*4, shall our brave warriors assemble and let you choose the best for the quest." says the chieftess.
*1 The Dark Kingdom is the largest and most powerful nation on the surface, and not necessarily evil.
Its heavy industrialization has darkened the sky above their cities, thus they are dark. Heavily polluted. Lands around the towns are mostly farms, but outer areas are forested.
*2 Goblins are numerous folk. Most of them are imbecile, but some have extensive knowledge on technology. Humans saw the first machines when a Goblin demonstrated it, and the humans stole the tech. From then, goblins have been mainly hiding, and plotting against the Kingdom.
*3 Elves have bad relations towards humans, like most of the intelligent species living in the surface. They are skinnier and weaker than humans, but are faster and more endurant.
*4 The Amazon council is a group of the elder priestesses, and they decide about most of the things concerning their tribe.
Part 2: The Council
Next night, the chieftess Nali has summoned the council.
"There shall be important matters..." growled the eldest druid, called Meli
"Indeed." says the second-eldest druid, called Felo
"So, what is the issue, we better get this done quickly!" yelled the fourth-eldest druid, called Ledi.
There's two other druids in the council.
"This concerns our tribes, and maybe this reality.. so I think this is worth the summon." says chieftess Nali.
"You better be correct." says Meli.
"The source for this dire knowledge is in this girl. The spirit inside her is clearly a very powerful one, one never seen in this world yet." says Nali
The girl walks in, and sits next to Nali.
"You are the Council Nali talked about?" says the girl in the familiar, spiritual voice.
"Yes." says Felo.
"I have come to inform you.. I'm the last goddess left, looking after this world. But, my lifepower is fading.. I need your tribe to claim my powers when I'm dying... only six of the best."
"We are listening. And, we are believing you. Nali was correct, your spirit is the most powerful we're encountered." says Ledi.
"We'll be initiating an contest to find the best.. of the best. You'll have say in the choosing, too, great spirit."
The Council leaves, and the room is almost empty. Only the girl and Nali are there.
"The contest is likely being held next week, in the full moon. You wait in our humble camp?" says Nali
"If you want to, I'll come.. my host needs rest and food." says the girl.
The next two days were "normal", everything was like any other day in the camp.
Some were mastering their weapons, some were resting, some meditated.
Part 3: The Contest
After those few days, the full moon begun.
The best warriors gathered to the temple. There were about 15 of them. 9 will be leaving, then. Now, it's the time to decide, who.
The contestants know that the task will not be easy one, and some didn't really want to be in the group, but they joined the contest because they would lost reputation if they wouldn't be there.
Two members of the Council walked in, Felo and Meli to be exact.
Shortly, Nali and the girl came too.
Felo begins: "We are here to choose the six, who are to claim the divine powers of the old Gods.
To some of you, this may feel like bullshit, but we believe that it is not. This girl, who is the host for the last Goddess, explains the rest."
Felo nods to the girl.
In the same, spiritual voice, the girl speaks: "I have come to this world to find people pure and courageous enough to claim my powers when I... fade. A malicious demon has been draining my lifepower for thousands of years, since the chaos of the ether world. Finally.. it has almost done its job.. *pause*
My powers had been forged into six amulets, which the destiny has led to the human capital.
Six of you are to sneak in, and claim those amulets. They will give you great powers, and great responsibilities. I can still see that you are capable of looking over the powers.
I trust the choosing to the Council members, as all of you are capable of it."
Meli says: "As you will."
