Greg Martin is king of uber-awesome space themed stuff, but his stuff isn't really for incredible noobs. Go start learning generalized stuff first. :)
Just google for PS tutorials. Also, play around in PS. PS has a pretty high learning curve though, so you won't get anywhere without reading some stuff as well.
Wow, I used "stuff" four times in that post (five now!) =\

www.good-tutorials.com (http://www.good-tutorials.com) is the best site that I've found. Nice search feature :)

www.artofgregmartin.com, as BB said, isn't for people just starting out, but it's where I learned to do starfields and planets. Booyah.

eh... now im having PS problems... im following a starfield tutorial and im at where it tells me to use the clone tool, but i cant seem to work the clone tool. first it tells me i need to define an area to clone, so i alt+click an area of stars, then click an area, and it just makes a + appear by my cursor whenevr i hold down the left mouse button and doesnt copy/clone anything...

You can only copy stuff from the layer you've currently selected unless you click the "Use All Layers" button in the options bar.

Flaming Pear (http://www.flamingpear.com/download.html) - has good nebula/planet/sun making tools. 30 day demo, or something, so don't use them until you plan to do a lot with 'em...

Agreed, I have this plugin myself (registered though). It's an awesome plugin and also does a wicked-cool water-mirror-image thing :p.
Although I generally wouldn't recommend using the advanced plugins until you're familiar with the PS interface and know what you're doing. It can all be a little overwhelming if you're new to PS. I'm not sure if the trial version of PS allows plugins either, but you may as well try once you're adept in PS ^_^.

Gar, now any bozo can make a planet! :P
I do find plug-ins can be very helpful in the creation of art, but don't rely on them entirely or you'll find that one day you'll want to make an effect that there is no plug-in for, and you'll be helpless.
