A few weeks ago a friend of mine showed me this. The site is www.johntitor.com (http://www.johntitor.com) . I've been meaing to post it here for the longest time but I kept forgetting ;). This is basically the story of a person who claims that he came from the year 2036. He says a lot of things, he shows a picture of his "time machine", and also describes how they believe that time works. Among one of the "creepy" things here, it is suggested that a United States Civil War will be started by the election....this year. Most people will dismiss all of this as bogus, but at the very least it's an interesting read. I found it a little creepy for a while just because of how difficult this would have been to fake, and it made me think that he could be real.

I'd love to see some of the opinions of the Warboards community. The best way I found to navigate it was to use the slide down bar on the left, and that you could find most relevant things by using the "The posts by topic" option. These are logs copied from a message board, and there are a few images.

I do want to give a little backround from what I read here, for the people who don't click the link or don't understand the big picture. John Titor claims that he has moved through "worldlines", basically catalogs of time, each one passing slightly differently than others. For example, he claimed that minor things, like teams winning championships might be different, but major events, such as Pearl Harbor, still would have happened. He claims that he came to our worldline to fetch an IBM 5100 computer to read codes, he mentions that after the war such a translator was unavailable. Here is a quote of one of his more important posts:

Why did you go to 1975?

The first "leg" of my trip was from 2036 to 1975. After two VGL checks, the divergence was estimated at about 2.5% (from my 2036). I was "sent" to get an IBM computer system called the 5100. It was one the first portable computers made and it has the ability to read the older IBM programming languages in addition to APL and Basic. We need they system to "debug" various legacy computer programs in 2036. UNIX has a problem in 2038.

On my worldline, it is known that the 5100 series is capable of reading all the IBM code written before the widespread use of APL and Basic. Unfortunately, there are none left that anyone can find on my world line.

Technologies themselves are not lost but some of the older tools and techniques have been lost. I think there is more detailed information about the war posted earlier.

When I leave, I will return to 2036. The computer I have is expected there.

He says that basically IBM programmed a "second function" into this 5100 computer, but it was not released because it could have let other companies onto their progress. He claims that this feature is why the 5100 is needed in his worldline. This is a picture of the computer: http://oldcomputers.net/ibm5100.html

I, of course, looked for anything that could disprove his whole alias, but I couldn't find anything. They have actually copyrighted the entire thing, just in case it comes true, so that no one else can take credit for it or say that they wrote this up after any "world war 3" that could occur.

I'll leave the rest up to you guys. It's pretty interesting, and it had me hooked reading it for a few days. I'd love to hear some other opinions on this.

Very interesting.

I'm inclined to beleive that this is just a hoax written by talented people, but it is interesting nontheless.

Perhaps I should let you all in on a little secret. No one likes you in the future. This time period is looked at as being full of lazy, self-centered, civically ignorant sheep.
Heh, sadly that's so true...

+karma for the find :)

That's the same way I felt, and I spent forever trying to find something to disprove it, but I couldn't find anything. I really worked myself into quite a mental state the next day when I kept hearing about the spats between Democrats and Republicans, right before the DNC :)

Yeah, I have heard of him, seen the site, and seen a fan site, all about him. But I know, he is just some retard who wanted attention. There is no way to travel into the future and we all know it. Other than wormholes, which we don't even have proof that they exist, he can't travel to the future.

He's traveling into the past though, no?

I'll read stuff on the site now, looks interesting...

Uhm, hard to fake? I think posting on forums would make it the easiest thing to fake... And, uh, don't ever take something like that seriously - you can sit there and read it look a interesting story, but not reality. I mean, please don't, if only for my faith in humanity...

Say, there's also Michael Pennington, who claims to be a ghost who can use computers, who posted on some random forum around January and February, 2004. I'm willing to bet it's the same guy behind both of these =P

The act of posting would obviously be easy to fake, but coming up with the pictures he has and the rather rock solid "theory" of how he came here/the history would be rather difficult. I have found no holes in his story, nor has anyone else that I know of, no matter how unlikely it may seem.

Well yeah, but he also traveled to the future. Or says he did.

Where is the new US capitol?

52. The new US capitol is in Omaha Nebraska.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! Funniest thing I heard all day.

If your from Nebraska or anything, don't get insulted, it is just that Omaha is such a random place to make as the capitol.

That guy is such a fraud. However, he is quite a skillfully decietful fraud, and if you are not known to the ways of deception, you cannot catch it. With many questions, he skillfully skirted around a definite answer, while giving something full of air and complex words to satisfy them.

In many, he shrugged off questions and answered questions with questions, saying things like, "I don't quite know the meanings of it" and things to that sort. I do like his skill at deceit, though.

If there were an infinite number of realities, then there would necessarily arise a reality that somehow causes there to be no other realities.

Yes!! Excellent insight. I would have enjoyed a conversation on this.
I especially enjoyed that one. Someone arose a question that he could not answer or skirt around, so he decided not to answer it at all. This was his last post, so no one could say anything about it to him either.

He also predicted that the 2004 Olympics would be the last Olympics. I suppose we will just have to wait until 2006 to find out, shall we? Even earlier, there is supposed to be a civil war starting this year. I hardly think there will be, why would there be?

It is sort of scary that he collected emails from everyone, I think that guy might have been sorty of a weirdo... Regardless, he was clever and intuitive, but he was a fraud nontheless.

very interesting, well I guess the only way to tell if he's telling the truth is to wait until 2005

now heres my questions:

did it saw WHICH forum he posted on? we could interview people from that forum to see if they actually asked those questions, caus that site could have been made even if he hadn't posted on any forum
...........o wait I only had one question

I actually read every single bit of information available on that site about a year ago (about a day's task). Very interesting indeed when I read it though.

There were points when I convinced myself this guy may be for real ^_^.

At some point, yes it did. It may have been at another site of the same theme, I did find a few others, most not as informative, however. I can assure you though, those are actually copied and pasted, all of the sites have the same information, just more and less of it.

Radlin, I had myself convinced for quite some time too :). I had myself all worked up about it.

bluemicrobyte, let me see if I can find the picture....

Go to the main site (www.johntitor.com (http://www.johntitor.com)). On the sidebar, there is a choice "John's Pictures". Scroll down to "Timemachine, Timemachine2, Timemachine3". The other pictures are of some different things that he posted, including a "cross section" of his time machine and a form, which the creater belives to be a florida vehicle registration.

Well, keep in mind that these were all posted on a forum at one point, so they could have been shrunk to fit size restrictions. Not that I'm claiming that they're real, but the pictures do seem rather accurate to me. At one point he actually posted the manual to his time machine, something that I originally thought would be almost impossible to fake, I haven't found the whole thing yet though :(

Surprisingly enough, you're wrong :P. The name is Tolkein Elvish.

blue, I'll let you know. But guys, try keeping this serious, I don't want this to be a spam thread, I want to know serious opinions about the site, not just saying "it's a fake" (even though that may be the case). I want to know your opinion of the content not the validity, please. Thanks.

well whoever is doing it must have planned everything out very carefully, before he started posting. Does anybody know how long those posts have been around? If they were around before 9/11 and he predicted 9/11, then HE MUST BE A TERRORIST either that or he actually predicted stuff or the guy was actually from the future

Maegtelluma
08-20-2004, 8:11 PM
Check the date and time of posts. I believe he came in two "stints", and I am almost sure that these are before 2001. This does not mean that he's a terrorist, it is support for his theory. If other things come true that he has predicted, perhaps his validity could increase.

Whether John Titor is real or not, what he says about the civil war and WW3.. that is inevitable. Maybe not at the same time(s) he "predicted" and maybe not exactly the same, but it will happen, sooner or later.

Well I think the content is fake too. I mean how can you go around the fact that this is all fraud. That is the first thing you check for.

Admitting ignorance is not answering a question with a question. Nor is it deceit. It is rather direct.

I especially enjoyed that one. Someone arose a question that he could not answer or skirt around, so he decided not to answer it at all. This was his last post, so no one could say anything about it to him either.

And I suppose if he, who claims not to be a scientist, said he was not informed of the nuances of multiverse theory, he would be a fraud?

He also predicted that the 2004 Olympics would be the last Olympics. I suppose we will just have to wait until 2006 to find out, shall we? Even earlier, there is supposed to be a civil war starting this year. I hardly think there will be, why would there be?

The presidential election, duh. I didn't need Titor to even drop the hint. This country is going to explode if this election isn't done right. And it's not going to be a nice North-South split, either. It'll be messy.

It is sort of scary that he collected emails from everyone, I think that guy might have been sorty of a weirdo... Regardless, he was clever and intuitive, but he was a fraud nontheless.

How is he a fraud?

Now, don't get me wrong. I'm not saying this is kosher. I'm hoping like hell someone can find a way to disprove it. But saying he's a fraud because, of all things, he takes great pains never to lie is fallacious and dangerous. It's not real, in other words, because you don't want it to be.
