It has recently come to my attention that some of you are Nintendo fans.......does anyone here happen to be a Zelda fan like me?

Me me me! :D

I love the Zelda games, even though I only started playing them on the N64. I must've played OoT sooo many times. I've played every Zelda game since (thank you to my cousin, owner of a GCN and GBA :) )

Amazing!! and they said I was crazy, I played OoT from start to end at LEAST 10 times

not to mention every other zelda game out there....cant wait for the next one to come out, it looks so cool!!!!

edit: btw where do you stand on the whole OoT vs WW thing?

spastic-ninJa
08-17-2004, 12:24 AM
I haven't played WW much, just once, whenever I get to my cousin's house :p

I really like the new cell shading though, it makes WW look so nice. I would prefer OoT though, as it is possible to play over and over and over :p

I'll ask my cousin, next time I go around to his place, if I can borrow his GCN, so I can get thoroughly stuck into WW :D

(PS: Remind me to plug in my N64 and play Zelda after I've finished posting for the day :) )

actually they made a promo disk that I have (w00t) which has the first two zelda games ever made, OoT and MM on it, which all are really shiney

I like OoT better just caus it has everything you need in a zelda game. WW lacked many original zelda concepts such as the windmill man (man I loved that guy), kukoos (the chickens), hyrule, a fairy (though not necessary), forest, many dungeons (more than 5, which is what WW has), mostly played on land, etc.

spastic-ninJa
08-17-2004, 12:35 AM
In a way, I think that WW was a kind of experiment. They tried to add new things/ remove fairies etc. Sure, it wasn't as good as the others, but it was still pretty damn good :D

Ya, OoT was just so fun. Gotta love attacking chickens, or flying around on chickens in Zora River :)

I'd like to see a Zelda game which incorporated the uniqueness of OoT, WW, and MM into it. So you could sail, transform into Zoras/ Gorons/ (Is it dekus? It's been a while since I played MM :/ ), with all of the brilliance of OoT.

I just have to say this:

I Love Saria's Song!

It's so legendary! I play it back in my head all the time :D

The problem is that I don't have a SNES or Original Nintendo so I haven't had the enjoyment of playing the original Zelda games

Although from all the hype that Link to the Past receives, I'd really like to play it. Is it possible to get a SNES second hand or online anymore, or do I have to do something else to play LttP?

and I can imagine you dancing to sarias song just like big brother (i think) in goron city

Link to the Past > All
thats the one with the light world and the dark world right? ya that one was actually prety good for its time, I liked it, but it just got soo long after the 8th dungeon or so, and I never actually finished it

The problem is that I don't have a SNES or Original Nintendo so I haven't had the enjoyment of playing the original Zelda games

Although from all the hype that Link to the Past receives, I'd really like to play it. Is it possible to get a SNES second hand or online anymore, or do I have to do something else to play LttP?ya got two options here, download an emulator and the rom to go with it, or but the remake for GBA, I think its called four swords, which is the exact same game on GBA, but with a multiplayer mode too

=====================================
The one thing I liked about WW was the fighting system, it was much cooler, especially the parry move, though the system seemed to make it a lot easier to kill stuff

spastic-ninJa
08-17-2004, 2:03 AM
I'll see if my cousin has Four Swords on his GBA, otherwise I'll download the rom + emulator.

Yeah, things were pretty easy to kill, with dodges plus parry.

RANDOM MM STUFF: Is it just me, or was the MM music a little too gloomy at times? Also, the last boss was a breeze with Majora's Mask, but I just had to use MM for the last boss, after all, I'd spent ages getting all of the masks in the first place :)

Did anyone ever manage to do the last 'challenge' thing in MM in Lost canyon (I think -- place before Stone Tower), located in a random cavern/pool? A ghost popped up, and, as you gathered more heart pieces, you were allowed to battle more creatures. The location was a pool with jumping platforms that went to about 3 (?) different doors. I could enter and complete two of them, but I was never able to enter the third door: "You do not have enough strength" or something like that, even though I had a ton of heart pieces :/

I never noticed the MM music, but I guess in all the areas BOFORE you kill the boss it played gloomy music, and after you killed it it got happy, but when you went back in time it got gloomy again

was that the one were you had to get certain stuff or something? I MIGHT have done it, but of course I might have used my guide

Yeah I noticed that dungeon awhile back, and I need like 2 freaking hearts to get the last door open t.t

Anyways, I played LttP first, and got hooked on Zelda. OoT and MM I played on the GCN, and past the annoying freezing problems (get frozen on the last day just before you finish the Kafei Anju thing and one gets pissed) it was pretty fun.

Also the Fiece Diety Mask was so fun. I took it to the fish boss just to beat the shit out of him ^_^

-Neolol, suffer the freezing on the anju and kafe quest...to get rid of the problem on gamecube, temporary save, and copy the save to another memory card, that way you get to keep it

Yeah I noticed that dungeon awhile back, and I need like 2 freaking hearts to get the last door open t.tYeah... just as you think you will be allowed in after getting another heart container, it says you can't

...I will do that dungeon someday...

That's so shitty how it froze while doing kafei quests... those take so long.

The thing I liked about MM was that it was a mind-challenging game (unlike OoT -- hack and slash, but ver-ry fun :) ) without a linear storyline (I must've played for so long getting all of the masks, and in the arcade games :D ), although the bosses were easy (that fish gave me a hard time though :) ). The second boss was so mind-bogglingly easy, it was a joke.

EDIT: OoC was meant to be OoT :p

I think he means Ocarina of Time, but mistyped. (Yeah, T and C are ever so close on the keyboard. ;))

I love every single Zelda game. I don't really know a favourite, but I've gotta say, the first ever Zelda game is very addictive. All fighting, little story, two quests, different dungeons... it revolutionized gaming, especially with the save.

Also, I have every single Zelda game.

ya, c = t, I'll keep that in mind

I own the first two zelda games (on collectors disk), I have the rom AND four swords for link to the past, I have played links awakening, and the oracle games, I own OoT for n64 and collectors, I own MM on N64 and collectors, unfortunately I have never seen master quest, I own WW, I might get four swords adventures, I WILL get the next game for GCN, it looks soooo coool!!

MM was good, but not a classic, though I did play it more than WW.

how bout because every 5 seconds you gotta watch the stupid water rise and lower...

steps to beating the Water temple

1) lower water:
2) go down
3) raise water:
4) go up
5) rinse and repeat 6 million times
*note that raise may be switched with lower and vice versa
**note that up may be switched with down and vice versa

**note that up may be switched with down and vice versaHaha, oh so true. It was the only thing that I needed to search on the net to find out wtf to do. It wasn't a mind challenge, it was tedious sh*t! I was so close to finishing it once that I could see one of the last things on my "Water temple to-do" list in front of me through a grate blocking the doorway

yep, one of my friends who was playing oot for the first time almost gave up just caus of the water temple, she stopped playing after a few hours of frustration, in fact, when she first got in, she didn't even know to go to the bottom and lower the water!

the water temple can be very confusing, especially because it's made up of something lik 4 levels, that makes it harder, expecially because each level has 3 possible statuses, because the water changes some things... In my opinion, it was a genious creation, but a bit to challenging for most people

Modred

I liked the Water Temple. Of course, I didn't play the game when it came out, only recently. I beat it in around 30 minutes. Not bad for a first try, at least in my opinion.

Anyway, I wasn't a die-hard zelda fan until around a year or so ago. Thanks to some wonderful friends, I got to try out Link to the Past on SNES. After having played several games (haven't gotten to Oracle of Ages, Oracle of Seasons, Link's Awakening, or Four Swords yet), Link to the Past still remains in my mind the greatest. The original Zelda pulls a close second.

Those who believe the Water Temple was hard the first time around...try the Master Quest. I can't get past the Fire Temple. While the puzzles are definitely better in OoT: Master Quest, almost all of the enemies have been removed from the temples, so it somewhat negates the challenge. I'm sure WK will back me up on this.

Anway, I love Zelda. And the...let's see...is it fifth or sixth dungeon on the original Legend of Zelda is insane. The ghosts that teleport around the room and shoot energy waves at you...they're too fast!!!

I don't know, the water temple (it's the water temple because it's near water, there is water in it, and you get the flippers there. It's not actually called it, but it sure as hell is) in Link's Awakening isn't too bad.

Xx_bender_xX
09-01-2004, 2:36 AM

bluemicrobyte

The 2D levels actually werent that bad, because you only had to consider two dimensions, take for example a 5 X 5 dungeon, that gives you 25 areas to cover right? well add a third dimension, you get 5 x 5 x 5 which gives you 125 areas to cover. Thusly, 3D dungeons are harder by default

(sorry guys, just started school, don't mind the technical stuff I may post from now on.......and yes that means less spam)
