I am a new modder, as you know from the post about ai which NOONE has answered, trying to upload some simple changes using Arsenal III. Just changing the Ghost and Marine weapons, switching them. But when I click on the WinMPQ to upload my file to the MPQ Compacter, it mentions this error:

Run-time error '53'
File not found

Help?

i don't know about that but i do get a error message that says "invalid pointer operation" (pointing out the fact that my custom is NOT going to work, i even tried)so i wouldn't be suprised if that was not the only error thing that happens, though i still need help with my error.

I think this is covered on starcraft.org, so look there.

sorry I don't mod, but have you tried to look up what error 53 actually is? its a number, which means its a reference to a list of errors.........I think

You're obviously doing something wrong with using the MPQ Compactor. You think you can say what are you doing exactly to produce the error.

Either you are simply not saving the file right, your directories are misplaced as to where the correct files/folders need to be, or you will need to download proper wintime files or something. If all esle fails, try re-installing. That or you could go bug BSTRhino. lol. Poor guy, i must have bugged him a million times when i first started modding. lol

Ok, the reinstalling worked. But now, I cant figure out how to get the patch onto the MPQ Compacter. I drag it on, it doesn't turn it into an MPQ, like it says it will. What's up with that?

Well, if you haven't run WinMPQ yet, then you get an error. If you have run WinMPQ at least once, then (just to make sure) did you have the .dat files in a folder?

i'll try it. thanx

When I run the search for the file units.dat, or any .dat files, it searches and says there is nothing to display. However, I look on open on arsenal III, and i can find my file. then i found my file on winmpq and said 'finally', but it said it didn't recognize the format when I tried to open it.

help?

I got to mpqdraft and it worked- up until a WINDOWS ERROR!

Ill try it deezed. I am hopeful for it.

ok, i think what i just need is a tutorial on winmpq, because its just confusing me. it looks easy, but i think my problem is learning how to use it.
