Hi, I had just recently heard that you can make charicters on singles player mode, then convert them to battle.net. How is this done, and what are some advantages and disadvantages of doing this as opposed to leveling them up from b.net? One more question, I have heard about open bnet, and closed bnet on d2, uhm, what is the major difference? I play games that are passworded with my freinds, and i also just click join game, and click a game a random. Which of this is closed, and which is open? and is a charicter taken from singleplayer to multi-player restricted ot wither one?

First question, can you convert character's from single player to Battle.net. No. Single player characters are hosted on your computer, Battle.net characters are stored on the Battle.net serves. This is to prevent cheating by changing character files. There is no way to get your character from your computer to a Battle.net server to play it on Battle.net.
Next, what's the difference between open and closed Battle.net? Open Battle.net is when you connect to B.net and play online with other people, but can use your single player characters. So if you mostly play SP, but want to try playing your lvl72 Hammer Pally with other people you can play TCP/IP (dialing directing into another persons computer by way of IP address) or Open Battle.net (playing your SP character online). Both of these options are found under "Other Multiplayer" on the title screen. The main disadvantage of Open B.net is everyone hacks there. Why? Because it's easy. Your character files are on your computer, so you just have to edit them and WHABAM you've got a lvl99 anything. So I would suggest against playing Open.
Closed B.net is where you start your character on the Battle.net servers, and can only play it online. Disadvantage would be you have to be online to play these characters, advantage is there is less hacking and there are people to play with. I always play Closed B.net. You can access Closed B.net under the Battle.net options on the title screen.
Couldnt have 'splained it myself any better GD, Thanks :)
Think I may snatch some of it later xD
