Hi, I am new here so sorry if there is some "Help Thread" I missed. I have recently found Starcraft.org through another contact at star wars galactic battlegrounds heaven who made a fenix mod for star wars and that ingtrigued me enough to come here and check everything out. I have a good idea on how to make a star craft custom/mod (whichever its really called) but two of the key compiling programs aren't working! These programs are WinMPQ and MPQCompactor, when I try to start up WINMPQ it says, This application has failed to start because VB0032.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem. Well, I redownloaded it reuzipped it and re-installed it and still comes up with that message. MPQCompactor says,

Script: C:/Documents and Settings/Owner/Download Files/Star Craft Mods/Modding/Programs/MPQ Compactor.jse
Line: 8
Char: 2
Error:Invalid root inregistery key HKCU/Software/ShadowFlare/WinMPQ/ProgramFilename".
Code:8007002
Source:WshShell.Reg.Read

What on earth that means, I have no clue! But some of that mess like the Script line target I understand its trying to read something out of a Folder in My Documents that doesn't exist. If anyone could help that would be wonderful, also I dont know if it really matters but I am running on an XP Operating system.

First, i'm pretty sure that WinMPQ requires some sort of runtime files, but i'm not sure...

Second, you need to run WinMPQ at least once before MPQCompactor will work.

Do you know where the Runtime files are? I have already checked the utilities section but I will check again in case I missed them not knowing what they were... :concern:

Edit: I found where I should go for the files now I am wondering do I need all of them or just the newest one(s)?

It looks like you're okay with the runtime files. Just run WinMPQ once and close it. Then the MPQ Compactor will work fine and you can go make some mods! Yay!

But it never can start... :( thats why I am wondering what I am missing (if anything) I just downloaded the Runtime Visual Basic 4 Libraries and am installing them, (just out of nervousness what will they do to my machine?) it also says in the manual it needs some sort of Microsoft Common Controls... what are those and what do they do?

You should have the required runtime files pack too. They are safe because they are from Microsoft. ShadowFlare only put them there so you can download them without searching through Microsoft's website.

If you need the common controls too, just get MPQ Control which is also on that site.
