Well, I would like to start a little thing about triggers. Post any ideas of advanced triggers here, and solutions to these ideas. I have an Idea to start with. Also to be used as an example.

#1- Limited Ammo. Creating limmited ammo for players. I was playing a shooting range map when i thought of an idea. Creating limmited ammo. In this, some how make it so you have limmited ammo. After each shot, you would lose 1 bullet. Make both bullets, and clips. One for the bullets you have the the current clip, and the number of clips you have, With delays in between each clip. Solutions on how to do this??

the only way i could think is use critters or something as bullets and when you run out you transform into a civilian

More like you've been reading staredit.net and are tying to impose crap on us to get material for new tutorials. That's hardly an advanced trigger anyway. Advanced triggering concepts are things like death counters and move location conservation techniques.

Oh yea, and for that, unless it's 1 hit kill it's impossible to accurately determine how many shots have been fired. If you use trigger bullets, on the other hand, it's quite easy.

ummm..... i never heard of staredit.net............ and i tried alots of ways with triggers and couldnt get it to work. so, can you tell me what is said that was on that site?? i want to make a shooting range game where you have limited bullets. and each that you kill, you gain a point. the person with most points after every1s bullets are gone, he wins........




i hate it when people just start flaming like that....... these kind of ideas are thought of all the time..... so if you hear of it more then once, its doesnt mean that it was a copy from another place.... and you will probly say so, but no, i am not a newb at maken maps except the part that my maps always crash starcraft for some reason........ im not the best at maken maps either....

Well then. With the more specific description you're giving now, I can actually help you trigger it. Basically what you want is impossible. You cannot use triggers to determine if someone actually fired or not unless it's one hit kill, and you're trying to make a game where the most kills wins. The only things I can even think of simply aren't applicable here, so you're out of luck.

just to clarify, no one was really flaming. No one ever got close to calling you a newb, and no one here will.

I sort of have an idea, but it wouldnt use real unit attacks. You would have however many scourges as you want to have ammo, so if you wanted to have 5 ammo, you would have 5 scourges. Now you have a spellcaster such as a corsair or a defiler, and set it so that when you cast that spell, one is moved onto your unit, (to make it look like your firing it) and then ordered to attack to wherever you casted the spell. then, you would display a leaderboard for Scourges, so once it reaches zero, if you have another clip, it would create more scourges in some far off area of the map that the player cant see, and resets the leader board.

Some of the newer Starship Troopers has ammo. I'm not sure how they did it or even if it would work for you but you might want to have a look.

All it is is they have a leader board for custom and every time there are enemies it decreases by 1 every second. (or something like that) not all that complicated.

i like the idea of spell casting to shoot. but how would you let the triggers know when you have casted a spell..... if no1 has any idea how, then we could just come up with a new idea that could be used in maps to solve....


oh, when i said flaming like that, thats what i meant like that^,not fully flaming, but it gets me more mad then when people say stuff before they even think about it..... like the idea i thought of and never knowing of staredit.net.....

Well, I need a trigger (well, series) of triggers for a map I'm making... it has to calculate income based on numbers of certain buildings (which are cities, ports, resources, sea trades, etc), and the number of units (upkeep, for lowering the amount). Aside from using a leaderboard, I have no idea how to do this. Could someone help?

hmmm, i believe, instead of using the leader board, you could use minerals or gas. but for income, im not sure how. i will play around with the triggers and see what i could do. You could use a leader board of the computers.
