I'm looking to pack my summer with the task of arranging at least 5 good songs for my HS's Men's A Cappella group. The only thing is, I listen to a lot of instrumental/new age music, so I'm not really up to times on popular music, etc.
So I'm calling upon the members of Warboards to fuel me with ideas! I would like to try to keep my repertoire to classic rock/rock roots and alternative, R&B might be alright if it's style is similar to the aforementioned. Reason being, in my experience, those kinds of music are typically better sounding when made entirely vocal, and I'll actually enjoy arranging that stuff too. :p
I'm open to anything that anybody thinks would be good performed entirely vocally, I'm really hard up for ideas at the moment. But if anyone posts songs that remotely resemble rap, I will immediately ignore their posts in this thread. Reason for that is: Rap is not music. I'm sorry, but it isn't. It's performance poetry with a rhythmic "musical" background. Big difference. One letter difference between "rap" and "crap", coincidence? I think not.
Examples of good artists:
Matchbox 20
Elton John
Barenaked Ladies
Paul Simon
Billy Joel
You get the picture. :D
