i would like them to add cool little things like for example; A marine drops his rifle mid-battle(apparently out of ammo) and starts shooting with a sidearm. Now, i dont think this should have any impact on the battle, it'd just be for show.This idea got me to thinking, it would be awesome to have units with more personality. For example, it would be cool to have different types of marines with different faces, and use different weapons. Or hydralisks and other zerg units that had different strengths.
And what if it did have an impact on the battle? Maybe you could have some units of the same type, but with slightly different attributes. Maybe when you train new units, they could come out of the clockwork slightly differently. This could be an option that you could set before the beginning of a multi-player game, and may not seem so interesting in a cheap-money map where you mass tons of the same unit, but in a real game it would be cool. Maybe some marines would have stronger weapons, while others could have more hit-points. Or maybe some zealots could have a optional "blaster guns" (?) like you see in some pictures of them. In the cinema scenes, you can easily tell that no one marine is the same, but wouldn't it be cool if all of your marines in the game weren't just identical all the time?
I dunno, maybe this whole idea would just complicate the game. But I'm sure it would be cool if there were at least 3 different variations of each unit. Maybe they don't have to have different attributes, but they could at least look different for asthetic purposes. It's little things like that (The kill counter for each unit, for example), that make the game just that much cooler.

Things I would like to have the units to have along the lines of Individuality.
* At least three different unit portaits for each unit that are randomly given to the unit.
*Three different voices for each of these portaits...
This might be a little much...but it would make for a more interesting eye candy...but it really isn't needed.

firtly i would like MORE readio chatter, secondly i want to be able to design my own units ingame like in Earth2150. i do hope that each side has a specific set of units, not just the same units with different names. SC managed to give different style of game for each side which really impressed me i hope this is kept.

Hmm, that actually is a very cool idea, to be sitting there and as your playing hear radio chatter if your the Terrans of a nearby colony being over run...or just a few guys shooting the shit and making jokes...ect.. This would work for the Protoss and the Zerg as well, but it would be thought waves that you pick up rather then transmissions.
Very interesting idea...and adds a new element for them to place those funny as hell comments into like the ones when you click a unit enough times.

Listening to the Zerg might be interesting. All these different grunts and other assorted noises. Although chatter might get a bit boring after you heard all the different ones.

Zerg are intelegent. I'm sure they can speak through thought. Click a Hydralysk, Guardian, Broodling, or Lurker enugh times....they make a sadistic laugh. The Zerg are immortal beings...each can be brought back to life through a new body....I'm sure their intelegent.
Not to mention the fact If it was Zerg you would most likely be listening to the Cerebrates and the Overlords...not the other members of the swarm.

Well, it wouldn't really add any lag to the game if they would do the other thing I want them to do and have three server groups. One group of servers for all Diablo games, one for all WC games, and one for all SC games.
Everyone being smashed together is what brings us so much lag.

i think that Blizzard has to make an anoucment of some contest in propositions... or make a another expansion pack... i know, that this will be that what we call in Poland " Odgrzewany pomysł" that means something was, and it was selled again in another box... you know what i mean? my concepts about the SC2? Let me think... i Think that there should be a special mutation of the swarm... cuz Duran is although Xel' Nagian, he would protoevolutioned his minnions... and the same interface, i prefer 3d but 2d is good enough for me... I would like the Earh 2150 Lost souls [ Yeah... That game was created by polish teams... Topware interactive is urs and i am proud of it...] type of creating own units... new sort of thanks... an a capability of translation the whole game into another language... not that like was it with first part of game... i don;t know... i like the efectsof fog over the mornings or over the lakes or swamps... especialy the efect od rain, snow, wind, NIGHT and DAY time... and of course, there must be something in Xel' Naga Legacy that will go into SC 2...
Hydralisks need a melee attack. Seriously. They have these big pointy scythes for arms and all they do is shoot needles at you. Even if you're in their face pumping them full of lead.

true... true an mybe some custom mutations? byt to have about a, flaying hydra, you'll need to take place i DNA bank slot [ especiay for zerg].... maybe one hive cluster can't take more of a nine units dna code or something?

Yeah, unit individuality is a good idea. I like it. With that I can recreated the action in Alien 2. Several marines vs lot of zergling. Wow !!!!!!!

So is the idea individuality like the system in Dawn of War?
Where you equip you're soldiers with a weapon of your chosing that would change his or her combat abilities? - so you should in theory be able to make a Marine into a firebat "on the go" ? :)
Can't say i'm much for anything but the increased chatter/portraits ideas, and of course the color scheme costumization (ala. Homeworld and Dawn of War). The other things like equipping your units on-the-go wouldn't make it feel... starcrafty for me ;P

I think it would be cool if you could design an avatar unit for multiplayer. they should include a creation mode for how it looks, and a ability & attck list. then it should appear somewhat into the game, like after about 30min to an hour in. this would be much better than the hero system in WC3, and would help to add a little individuality to your games. after all, nothing would be cooler than being able to make your own kerrigan or Raynor clones to represent yourself.

Well put. i've thought about that plenty myself. But it would disturb the balance a bit, as we're now forced to rely on zerglings or ultralisks for melee...which is sometimes needed, like when facing dark swarm, for instance.
If the hydralisk could just switch to melee at that point, the zergling would be useless in the game, except as the "oooh, here's my first offensive unit, oooh!!"
Though if you actively had to switch the hydra into melee-mode, it would require more micro-ing...which would be a minus...which would tip the balance back a little to where we are now...so maybe...
How about giving the defiler a normal attack? After all it has its claws, and the swingy tail... Nothing much or special...just a little something to help defend it when it's out of energy. Same thing with the templar. Like in whichever scenario/campaign where the...uh...main guy you were controlling was something that looked a lot like a templar, but it had some psi-blast as normal attack. Added a little nice variation to the game.
...and...and...the medic could be upgraded to learn KARATE!! And be the Terrans 2nd melee attack unit!! Would be great for Dark Swarm! "Send in the karate-bitches!! Let's do some Kung-Fu on those slimy bastards!"

how about having the hydra have a different air and ground attack? a slow ground attack with a value of like ten (seriously, in the cinemas, when did the hydra EVER spit at the people as opposed to just using those big ol' claws?), and then its good old spine spit for air.

It could be somewhat of the zerg's equvalent of the goliath, only slightly weaker...and the ground attack isn't ranged, but melee.
So spit itty bitty slimy spikes on flying doo-doo, and cut walkers and runners to shreds with the giant claw-thingies.

They need to have something similar to Red Alert 2 in which when a unit gets a certain number of kills it gets upgraded (in the case of RA2 they become corporals and lieutenants and things liek that) but it would increase their power and attacking rate and their speed.
