View Full Version : Saving up skill points?

I've had Diablo 2 for quite some time but never got into it seriously until recently, so I'm still missing some information.

Reading FAQs, again and again they say save skill points to pump up whatever lvl 30 skill you're working towards. I was doing this for the longest time with my Paladin, then I actually asked someone and they said I messed up. They said it had something to do with the 1.10 patch.

Anyway, I was under the impression that once you got to lvl 30, you could just dump all the saved skill pts into it at once. But all the other skills you can only put 1 point in per level. Are the lvl 30 skills the same way?

When the guy I asked told me I messed up and that I couldn't do this, I put all my saved pts into Might (was saving up for Conviction). This was just this morning and already I know I messed up AGAIN and should've invested in synergies, which I just discovered.

So basically I'm asking was I right to use up the skill pts or could I have put them all into Conviction at lvl 30?

Sorry if that was confusing.

P.S. I should probably make a new character, huh? lol

For every skill (lvl30 skills included) you can only put one point per skill per level. Saving skills points is still not always a waste though; if you have two lvl30 skills or a lvl24 and a lvl30 skills, or something like that, by saving skill points you can put points in more than one skill each level.

Does that make sense?

And you don't have to make a new character unless you want to :p

Yeah that makes sense

I could save up skill points so when i get to level 30, I can invest in Fanaticism AND Conviction each lvl

thanks a mil for the response, because now I know i didnt screw up my Paladin too much

That said, you can't really screw your character up by saving points anyway. It may make the game harder if you don't use them, but you can always go back and allocate them whenever you want anyway...

Although he did say he dumped all his points into Might when he found he couldn't dump them in Conviction. Not saying your character is messed up at all, I'm sure you can make it work in a way you hadn't previously planned.

One of the few classes I've seen do this is a Lit Javazon. You can put points into LF and LS at once. Other than that, there are rare characters where it helps. Another good one would be like if you need points in... Hmmm... Well what's a good one... Meteor and Fire mastery! There's one! You can save all your points until you can get Meteor. Then when you can get Mastery in another couple levels, you can beef both at once... That's one instance I can think of! ^.^

But I'm beefing up Zeal and Fanaticism now and he's pretty good, I'm happy with him.
