Yes Yes ...you all must be thinking..."wha has the dude gone stark raving bonkers?!? WoW isin't even out yet!!!"
And you are all quite right.
I have gone bonkers but would like to talk about this all the same :).
Just saw the gamespot preview of WoW (Thenk you Mr Plow)
and it got me to think....if WoW is indeed 4 years hence from tft and roc then i certainly hope they do not make the plot of wc4 those four years..it would be kinda discouraging to play the game knowing what would happen in the end and then some(ie in WoW)

Play at the beginning of time where the legion comes, the NE appear, the dragons are seperated, and the titans decide its time to leave.

(Do I detect a little sarcasm?) :shiftyr:
Although an ancient wc4 would be interesting..
I was just saying that the main things that appealed to me in ROC and TFT was the build up of the excitement ...the tension of thinking how would the good guys get out of this fix.,...
If you know how that happens from before then half the excitement is gone..

All the Previous Warcraft games have usually been separated by a generation (about 30 years), with the manuals filling in the blanks. WoW takes place only 4 years after war3, which is a twist, but it makes sense seeing as the end of war3 was really leading up to foundations of WoW. If Blizzard were to make a Warcraft 4, it would most likely take place well after any events in WoW could have occured, and the planning wouldn't begin until WoW has died down and world-changing events wouldn't be occuring. I would guess a setting for war4 that is 50-60 years after WoW, maybe even more, so that the technology and alliances could be realistically altered.

Meh. They better not make WC4 before SC2.

No I just think it be fun to see a Warcraft 4 set back before there was such a think as Azeroth known to anyone from Kalimdor (the elves taht continued using magic were the first to go to Azeroth and know of its existence from Kalimdor)
The races can be "Burning Legion, Elves, Furbolgs, Titans(or Titans army), and maybe Dragons". It would just be fun playing Warcraft history. And I say Furbolgs as a playable race because they are an honorable race and only in recent years started to be evil, or so I remember. They may not contribute a lot to an overall history but it can reflect on thier point of view and failure to be stronger than the Elves.

That actually would be a super-cool idea, but it is VERY rare that games ever go prequel.
However, it seems to be a trend forming with lore-intensive games (such as Suikoden, #4 is going to be 150 years before the first game ^_^), so we don't really know. I'd really enjoy if Blizzard did decide to go into the past, rather than into the future for this though :D. They'd be able to add so much more, without having to mess up the storyline with advancing technologies and stuff like that.

well the thing with prequels is that you can't always give them more advanced tech than what they already have in the present..;)

That's the point. I don't want advanced technologies. Travelling back in the past will allow us to avoid the problem of getting the newer technologies, which would really (in my opinion) ruin the game . . .

Yeah I see your point.....maybe in the past they would have more dependancy on magics :)
...or was it magiks?

Good Idea, I think though that they could have more primitive technologies in such a game that would have been considered obsolete in later times. So stuff like the catapult could be made more powerfull in relation to primitive stuff like slings. The standard units of previous games can be at the end of the tech tree while the new primitive (time is so confusing) technology would be learned first. Well thats about it.
