So, what are the favorite character builds of the members of the fledgeling WB?
Support barb. I don't know what the hell to call it, but It's my versoin of a support help. Not meant for a LOT of direct combat, more or less to deal with annoying small things in quests. I will max the 3 main warcries for support, Axe mastery, and finally, Whirlwind. The rest of the points will go into Nat resist for a while, and maybe a little other stuff here and there. I will also get like 5 points in Berzerk just in case of Physical resist later on ;)

Necromancer with pumped vit + BS + semigeneric items. :D I haven't played in a long long time, but I remember him as my favorite character. =p
Martial Arts Assassin. That baby ruled! Phoenix Strike and Dragon Tail/Dragon Flight. Shadow Master and a shit load of Leeching and damage reduction. Not sure about 1.10 now. I'm trying to develop one for this version.

Mine are 1.03 hammerdins / smiter hybrids. Mmm the good ol' days with barbed shields and tarn helm, and silks of the victor. and rare items. wall of the eyeless. hehe.
I like Sorceresses myself, and Necros, but all my other favorites got nerfed... My poor Bowazon, she was so fun to take MFing :(

Talk about your Bowazon, What about my Hybridzon. Noooo! Poor SSuPa!

i did a pure bone as soon as 1.10 came out,
a summoner with +1 charms and trang set
a blizzard sorc
a orb sorc
and a singer meant for damage. i soon discovered that warcry, even maxed(level 30) did only like 1100 damage. and even with 2 wizspikes and some elited magis i wasnt able to kill in hell.
so i remade him and just maxed shout, battle orders and the stun cry :) of course, even with 4200 and some life he still died in the chaos sanct to lag from a fire enchanted boss. oh well. after that i quit hardcore diablo 2 and never looked back.

since 1.10 has come out ive done:
a poison nec
a cold zon
and a martyr pally
The poison nec is really fun, but its kinda weird to play (the poison delay makes killing things... interesting to say the least). My pally is only lvl 23 right now, but he is very fun to play. I have about 20% life steal and use sacrifice so that i dont have use a single point of mana :-D. So much fun...

my dad did a cold/lightning sorc that got up to lvl 93. he used frozen orb and chain lightning as main attack and could do some serious damage. his chain lightning was at around slvl 30 with all his adders... was a really nice sorc. too bad it was deleted from inactivity...

I've made a few 1.10 chars that were OK.
My first was a 1.10 zerker. I soon found out he sucked ass, because I really needed to put points into the synergy (which is weird, since it doesn't help you o.o). I also needed points into stunning monster(forgot the warcry ><), and that made me really vulerable. I got him to lvl 83 then I gave up and used him as a mule.
I made a normal sterotypical summoner, and he's OK in PvM. I haven't used him much and he's like lvl 50 right now.
I made an amazon with cold skills but I don't like her anymore =/
I also made a Barbarian that was much better than my old one. He has almost full IK set and he's doing awesome dmg, especially with maxed mace mastery and whirlwind ^_^
He's my best char although he's at lvl 80
The char I'm making right now is a hammerdin. He's owning in much of my duels and he's fun to play ^_^

The best class is the Smitadin. Its a paladin who used throwing weapons. You get a high holy shock, and smite, if the enemies are lucky enough to get to you just smite them to the ground. LvL 54 HC before 1.10 patch.

Pardon the ignorance on my behalf, but could someone please explain the term "cookie cutter" to me that I hear you Diablo II people use a fair bit?

cookie cutter usually means (as far as i know) that the build is the one that everybody else does. Cookie cutter builds are found everywhere, usually because they are very easy to play and fairly powerful. The bowazon with 20 multi and 20 guided is a cookie cutter build, everybody and his brother uses it because all you do is right click and shoot a zillion arrows across the screen. Another cookie cutter (i used to see these all the time, not so much anymore) was a sorc with max static field and some sort of finisher (charged bolt, lightning, or chain lightning). The idea was click-click-click, there down to a quarter health, one lightning kills them.
TO be fair, Cookie Cutter zons no longer work, now its cookie cutter blizz sorcs, hammerdins and/or boners (bone necros)

Ah, thank you. And I take it "cookie cutter" characters are frowned upon for their unoriginality?
What is one of the better Bone Necro builds? And also, what's a good build for an Axe Barb? I am making one right now, and have 15 axe mastery, and am using it for a support party. It is going to max Axe mastery, Battle Orders and it's synnergies and such... And then I have Whirlwind, which I want to max by the end of it's life. Currently, it's a good Normal rusher, because WW takes care of small shit, the Warcries handles the rest of the party being rushed, so they don't die, and Axe mastery with my Chieftan is pwnage. I have a few good axes muled away for higher levels, but what do you think?
Melee characters arent very good anymore there is no "good build" for them anymore.
Ask Swhitzer about bone necros though ;)
Hes got a really nice one on Single Player, a few skills I wouldnt have gotten, but overall it kicks ass :P

Blizzard/meteor sorc,
mine can solo hell baal.

Schwitzer can solo Hell Baal, too. He was my first character ever created, though, so there are a couple of dodgey skill point allocations... I'll be happy to share any tricks I've picked up with you though, if you ask. :)

Really a melee sorc is very effevtive in duels...u tele around hit and tele...kinda cheap but it really works. The best items that ive found for a melee sorc to use are passon berserker axe, skullders or up'd shaft, shako or gaze,ss,duel ll ammy,1 raven frost,1 bul-kathens or a ml or ll ring, war trav's,string and ik gloves or laying of hands.
The best skills to max for a melee sorc is: 5 teleport
20 ts
5 frozen armer
20 enchant
20 warmth(good mana regan and synergy for enchant)
Then i suggest u mess around with your skills that are left..i havent gotten that far in making the sorc yet but when she does get high ill be sure to let u guys know wut skillz are good and not.
GF HF if u make a melee sorc.
