Some guy on tl.net was inspired by boxer's valkyrie usage and decided to try them out. Owned some C players with them. Here's a FPVOD he recorded:

The Zerg player goes "WTF LOL" when he loses scourges to valks without being able to damage them.

Here's the original thread:

It's obvious that valkyries aren't being used because they're very high tech, cost a lot, and don't do anything better than wraiths in small numbers - and normally you wouldn't want a big number of AA units.
However, with all the FEing lately, and Zerg's reliability on Overlords, maybe Valkyries could actually become a useful staple unit that we'll start seeing in mid-lategames occasionally? Or are they going to become void again when Zerg finds a reasonable counter for them?

Sure, valks aren't as good as corsairs on their own, but the bigger picture is that they come with tanks and M&M, which makes all the difference.
i.e. Zerg counter corsairs with hydras, that you're going to need anyway to fight Archons and such. But you don't really want hydras against Terran, so having to waste money on them gives the Terran a big ground advantage through air dominance.

Thoughts, anyone?

This reminded me of a game I watched on VOD a while ago. Thought I'd track it down, but it took a while: I finally found it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B1y5-Mia6Vo

It's the first game of the 2003 (!) MSL finals between Yellow and iloveoov on Gauntlet. oov opens Vulture -> Goliath/Valk and deflects Yellow's strike, eventually decimating his muta, then follows up with a clean switch over to mostly tanks with gollies and a few leftover valks.

Looks like this was before stacking flying units became really standard, so I'm not sure how that affects viability. Just throwing this out as another build using valks.
