The Cow Level exists in Diablo II, however there is none in Diablo I (which was why the "thereisnocowlevel" cheat exists in StarCraft, which was made before Diablo II).

You can only reach it on each difficulty after killing Diablo (act IV boss).

To get there, go back to the Rogue Encampment. Put a Tome of Town Portal (any amount of scrolls) and Wirt's Leg (obtained from Wirt's Body in Tristram) into the Horadric Cube and transmute them (must be in the encampment). A red portal will open up that will take you to the Secret Cow Level.

Be careful; those cows are extremely tough and they are plentiful. Somewhere on the Secret Cow Level is a Super Unique Boss called The Cow King, who usually drops nice items.

i heared that if i killed a cow king i wouldnt be able to make the cow level anymore..

I'm not certain of that one; I know a lot of people claim that you can never get back to the Cow Level on each respective difficulty level again, but I'm sure I remember getting there several times on the one difficulty level. I think I just killed Diablo again and I could go back.

I'm not sure... this was over a couple of years ago.

The Cow Level was a myth that started in diablo I. People said if you clicked one of the cows in the town enough times, a secret portal would open up to a place full of powerful monsters. Starcraft was released and the imfamous skip level cheat, "there is no cow level" which was blizard's official response to that.

When d2 rolled around blizzard showed off a bunch of axe weilding cows. thus the real cow level was born. by beating the difficulty level and then coming back to say a normal game, and combining wirts leg with a tome of town portal in the horadric cube IN act 1 town, a red portal will open.

You can open this portal as many times as you like, as long as you do not kill the cow king. after you kill the king, you can never open the portal again.

You can, however, go into other people's portals that they made. That's how you go back. If you kill the king, or someone in your party does, bye-bye being able to make it ;)

Yeah? I could swear I've killed the Cow King multiple times on the one difficulty in solo games (without cheating, of course). Perhaps I am mistaken.

the cow level is good for low lvl characters to go in after they're all dead and scavenge for stuff to either save or sell

I don't think low level characters can go into the cow level.. I am pretty sure you must beat diablo to get in there. But that might have changed with the new patch, but im pretty sure they can't. Err, perhaps its just they can't make the portal, not sure. :confused: If somebody like Geno or somebody who knows the game real well could answer that i'd appreciate it.

I don't know the game real well, compared to people like Trix, Neo, or others... But I do know you can go into the cow level at any level. You can't go into someone else's TP if you are too low (Not sure of level requirement), or you can't enter another TP if you have killed the king, or someone in your party killed the king in a previous game. The level is good for drops. Heck, nightmare cows are the best, to me, because they can drop skill grand charms ^.^

Ah, alright.. but im still pretty sure you have to at least beaten Diablo to get in there. Perhaps once Neo sees this he will clear this up for me. :)

Actually, you can go into someone else's Moo Moo Farm portal even if you have killed the cow king, you just can't start the portal. If someone else (who has killed Diablo in that difficulty, but not the cow king) starts a portal for you, anyone can enter it, regardless of Diablo or cow king killings.

What if somebody kills the cow king in somebody else's portal.. can that person who made the portal make it again, because they didn't kill the cow king? heh.. im just writin stuff now..

All right NEO. I will explain the whole Hellboy thing to you. Hellboy is the son of Jahad. Jahad is the Devil. In other words. The girl with the blue flames comeing out of her hands. That is Sparky. She learned how to control it during the movie. And she ends up saving Hellboy in the end. Becuase Agent Jonathon slaps her in the face and makes her very angry and the blue flames come rushing out of her hands and saves hellboy and the day.

Okay, this is really late, but I just saw this post and better late than never, right?

If someone kills the cow king in a game, everyone in that game gets credit (or discredit?) for killing him, meaning no one in the game can make a portal after that. That's how I understand it anyway.

I think it's a really dumb rule; it wasn't that way a long time ago, but what can you do.
