A Casual RP - Cyberdreams

The year is 2033. The world is much more advanced than it is now. Holograms, space elevators, advanced medical technology, computer-operated cities, its all there. But the biggest leap is in virtual reality.

With a simple, cheap implant, one can easily access a virtual world, much akin to the internet, anywhere, anytime. It changed society, allowing friends to know each other incredibly well, yet live nowhere close to each other. Schools are uncommon, as people simply go to a virtual version of it. The Cyberdream, as people called this world, expanded and became the new internet, with a culture all of its own.

The idea behind this RP is simple. Your people, and you've met in one of the many town-like cybersites in the Cyberdream. I have a sort of semi-plot planned out for events going on in the real world, too. But other than reacting to the events I set out in the real world, you can pretty much do whatever you want.

Name: Conney Marlow

Age: 19

Having studied computers in his spare time, Conney Marlow knows he is a genius, although school had been a pretty lax case for him. But enough of that; the real story is that Conney Marlow has always had big ambitions, however the arrogant kid never knew what exactly he would do to get it, or where to start to begin with. He's been hacking in his spare time, buying and selling computers, taking risks. He lives on his own, and is seeking certification simply because he feels forced to. Yet he still lives for the 'big break' one day, in which perhaps he can commit higher heinous acts, such as the robbing of another one's domain, the creation of malevolent cyber beings, or any of the sort.

Marlow considers himself a 'gray hat' however, though it's obvious that his blacker nature would never get him hired... or certified for that matter.

Real World Appearance: Gaunt shallow features, pasty skin, brown hair, semi-permanent hunch, plain white t-shirt, cheap overshirt and drab green cargos.

Cyber Appearance: Cowled figure in dark robe that appears to emit shadows. The face is featureless beneath the hood and with treant-like claws from beneath the robe's arm folds in cartoon proportions. Marlow believes this image makes him seem mysterious and cool, hopefully in conjunction with his skill as a software techie.

Seeing as how people are, I'd imagine a lot of them would go with different avatars from what they look like in real life. 25 years from now, I always imagined that the internet would be like another world. Online games, no matter how crappily made, would present a literal escapist opportunity. Not to mention social networks like second life (only 25 years from now).
