But seriously, my window fell down into the door, and it's a pain to take the door apart. Spent around 2 hours working on it this afternoon, trying various things aside from taking the door apart, since I've done that before on the passenger side and it's not pleasant. Of course, now it's dark and anything more effective will have to wait until tomorrow.

Aww, I had the exact same thing happen in both of the old cars I had the pleasure of driving. One of them was a 84 VW Rabbit with manual windows that was easier to fix because no motor mount to worry about, but I cut up my hand and pretty bad trying to fix it.

My 92 Subaru Legacy was a pain to fix. I vowed after that to never try fixing a door / window again; it's just way too much of a pain without the right tools. I feel for you man (I, however, was more stylish with a completely clear vinyl covering rather than a plastic bag, so beat that. :P )

Custom bags ftw. You should put some sort of design on that.

I would suggest replacing that with a fancy tarpaulin that says 'Vote Voltron!' :D

DO NOT TRY TO PULL IT UP WITH A PLIERS
my friend did that during a rainstorm and the window shattered in the door. We got so wet.

I'm not sure I could even get pliers down to where they could get a grip on the glass, if I wanted to try that. Whenever I get a chance I'll disassemble the door and try to push it up from below.

Too late; I already fixed the window this afternoon, and just in time for it to start raining, too. Although, this morning I saw it was going to rain on the way to work, so I stopped at Walmart and bout some plastic food wrap and duct tape. 15 minutes and one Macgyver impression later, I had a nice makeshift window that kept the rain out all day.

I woudln't go as far as calling duct tape and Walmart bags Macgyver-esque. If you did it with a paperclip, grass, and perhaps a swiss army knife, I would consider labeling it as Macgyver-ish. :P

Just out of curiousity, did your door open up completely or was it a pain to do?

Walmart bags? This was high grade (ie: dirt cheap) plastic wrap, like you use on sandwiches or something. Delicate stuff. Also, was out of paper clips, and who needs a knife when you can tear things with your hands?

Opening up the door wasn't too bad. Since I've done it before I knew where everything was inside the door. Just had to release all the retaining screws on the trim so that I could lower the trim and set it on the ground, then reach inside and push the window up from below.
