View Full Version : My Purse was Stolen >.< ARGH!

Gah! >.<

I was tired. I wasn't paying attention. So yes, it was my fault it was stolen.

I was at Wal-Mart looking at some fabrics with my mom for the wedding party costumes when my mom asked me to go look up some patterns. I set my purse down next to me and since it was late and I had worked hard all day and I was exhausted [It was like 11 at night] I didn't pick it back up from where I set it next to me and just walked away.....>.<

When I realized I didn't have it I ran back to go get it and it was gone. I went to lost and found, no one turned in my purse. I even called the next day and the next--My purse is not to be found.

To make matters worse--I had just about EVERYTHING in there since I've been moving around so much.

My passport, Driver's License, Bank Cards, Check book, ALL my make-up [You know how expensive it is having to buy make-up all over again?? >.<] My digital camera!!! My Important wedding notebook with things I needed......

*sniff*

I am sad :(

So......Now I'm on my way to Wal-Mart to go speak with the head of security and we're gonna go over the tapes so that way the police can get a description.

It's kinda funny about my driver's license though.....:P

My license is actually suspended due to an expired ticket [I got a ticket because my dad's car had expired registration when I was driving it around.] so if whoever stole my purse has my license and is trying to use it cuz maybe they look like me--It'll be funny should they get pulled over because they'll go straight to jail XD [Yes I have a warrant out too.]

Anywayz....This sucks. Anyone have all their stuff taken like that before?

Good ol' PC99, her posts are never gentle on my illiteracy.

Some kid stole my bike from school, but I knew he did. Then me and some friends went to his house to just grab it back and his crazy-ass ad chased us in an old van. That was a weird day.

That sucks PC.
Yeah one time I was swimming in the river with some friends and some other people we didn't know were swimming too so we went up a little up the beach to be by ourselves but left our pile of clothes over where we were first. When we went to leave, my friend rob's pants were nowhere to be found (with his wallet with his card and license in it and some cash and two cell phones) and there was $80 missing out of my wallet. I ran after them following a trail of my receipts through the woods but they were on bikes so they escaped easily and the pathetic police did absolutely nothing.

I feel for you PC, losing stuff like that is annoyingly sad.
About a month ago, at work, my boss asked me to wash his car for him, while he works in the kitchen on the stuff we're about to drive out. It's kinda downtown where we were and the people there aren't especially nice. I left my cell on the seat inside the car and washed it.

After I was done, I went to the kitchen to talk with my boss, and when we headed out... my cell was gone. A Sony Ericosson, had all my friends' phone numbers on it, none of which I memorized. Ever since I lost my cell I have problems keeping contact with people, it hurts me even today. ugh.

How can people steal stuff lying around like that, it's just so low, not the slightest bit of dignity >_<

I feel for you, I hope it turns up ^^ without much trouble.

Damn PC, you're in trouble.

I sincerely hope that you've already called your banks and told them of your stolen bank cards. Otherwise, you may be liable for any fraudulent charges.

Now onto a more pressing issue, identity theft. IIRC, Passports have your social security number on them. You need it to reenter the country. I'm not sure if they've been encoded via a barcode, but if it's still written, you're in a lot of trouble.

Any dude can now fake your identity, get credit cards in your name and all sorts of malicious stuff. If this happens, your credit score is going down the drain and you'll have a hard time getting approved for a $200 loan.

I really, really hope you've already done this, but incase you haven't, here's what to do:

Call all your bank cards / credit cards and tell them that you purse was stolen and issue holds on all of them. You don't have to cancel them in case it turns up. This prevents any charges from being placed on them.

Every. Single. Card.

Even if it's a freaking JC Penney card, call it in.
Call the three credit agencies:

They are Experian, Equifax and Trans Union. I've googled them and found the numbers for you. I don't know if they're right or outdated, but make sure you call these three companies.

Equifax: 1-800-525-6285
Experian: 1-888-397-3742
Trans Union: 1-800-680-7289
Call the social security office. They're officially known as the SSA (Social Secuirty Administration) and they have a fraud line. Depending on the activity, they may issue you new cards, etc. I think you should call your local SSA office, but there might be a national office to call.
Call other agencies that you've lost your card from. For example, DMV for License, Passport, and get them all canceled.
Screw the Walmart security, file a police report. It probably won't help, but if you do get in trouble w/ credit agencies, you can show that you were taking proactive steps in your safety by contacting the police.

I've had a brother who had some minor identity theft. Someone made fake checks and were using his account. It's a huge headache and it's the last thing you want to deal with.

I hope you find your wallet and some good samirtan turns it over.

I'd would've killed him. People who are willing to steal things just to steal or be jerks need to get the crap beaten out of them. Anyways PC, I'll keep you in mah prayers and I hope that most everything will be ok

Goddamn that blows. I used to lose my wallet when I was a spring chicken and it had like $2 in it and that sucked. I think it was getting nicked, but it was always easier to blame me, since I was forgetful. Losing your purse is way worse, especially given how much stuff you had it. Now you have a ton of things to do to get all that stuff protected. Ugh. :/

I remember working at a club once, and some foreigner chick ran up to me and starting yapping about her purse. I took one look, and her purse was lying inside out at the table with crappage (gum, etc.) laying around it. She said she went to the dance floor and...I told her to stow it and check the trash can and file a police report if she wants. I felt really, really bad for her since we were like her "host" country, I was an employee, she was obviously nice, etc. etc., but wth. Not like I could do anything, and she was REALLY stupid for leaving it out like that.

Did you check the trash cans? Usually the thieves take things of value and throw the rest away.

Edit: lawl every thread PC makes turns into a "christianity" thread

Heh, and obviously gunmonk she didn't know who stole her purse so beating the crap out of him would be kind of hard. So when you find out who stole your "property" are you going to beat him before or after the cops judge him?

But anyways, it was stolen. You can blame the thief all you want, but in essence it was your fault for leaving it out. I see you claimed yourself as at least partly responsible though, but some people still want to blame others and have others fix their mistakes and make everything A' okay. That is called, "not learning from your mistakes." You "hope" he/she gets caught by using your license...this is placing blame elsewhere. I'm sorry you got your purse stolen though.

But, try having your car, parked in a dorm parking lot (without cameras for some reason -.-) be hit, and the damage be minimal, just a scrape on the bumper, and some paint rubbed off. But, again the car appeared to have been keyed across both sides. Someone hit my car, and than keyed it because they hit it...logic?

Shit happens, get over it, and learn. Sometimes there is nothing you can do other than report it.

-----

I see some of you asking how people are able to do such things. It is called learning from their choices. They have never been punished enough for them to change, and continue to steal, because in short-
A. It is free stuff for them
B. Why not? Like they'll get caught, they haven't before.
C. Values are not natural, they are learned.

Pretending that someone not educated at harvard speaks with an accent, and is a top law student in the country is just naiive. Pretending that everyone has morals is, again, naiive.

Well, seeing as how they took my school books and the same people (I think) broke my windshield while I was in kansas for my mothers funeral, and since in Texas we have the castle doctrine. Next time I see someone messing with my car, I would be overjoyed to put a few slugs in their being(s).

As for before or after, as long as there is evidence that they were breaking into my car, or I have pictures, its perfectly legal. Gawd, I love Texas, and the wanna be gang members in my neighborhood. Tis be why I have a gun(s).

Also PC, I do suggest filing a police report, largely because if you do that, you can show the credit card companies and the like that you took said protective measures, and if you have anything under insurance (phone?) if you show the people the police report, they will send you off a new one. My school had my books insured, so I ended not paying a penny for them. Also, maybe investing in a wallet isnt such a bad idea, they are usually allot harder to swipe.

No fucking way, I'm going through exactly the same thing!

See, I'm in Ireland on vacation with my family. We were staying down south (Kerry), and my parents were gonna go up to Dublin for the last week. Me and my sister would stay in Kerry with all our friends and stuff.
Now, the day before my parents were gonna leave for Dublin I left my jacket at the local pub. That jacket contained my wallet. That wallet contained my ID (within the EU they function as a passport), 80 euro and my PIN card.
The next morning I realize it's gone, and I'm fucked. I can't get back home without my ID. We checked the police and the pub itself, but my jacket was nowhere to be found. They told me it was most likely nicked by someone.
Thank god I was still in my father's passport, otherwise I'd be in a whole 'nother type of trouble. I did have to go up to Dublin with my parents though, basically cutting my vacation a week short.
Now I'm stuck here in my aunts house, watching TV and surfing the net while my parents go around being nostalgic and meeting old acquiantances. I should be surfing and partying down south! :cuss:
I'm also down 80 euro, my ID, my jacket and my PIN card.
Hang in there, PC. I feel your pain. :(

PC with the warrant out for her arrest. Kickin' it old school.

I had someone try to use my bank card once, without actually having the card. I'm guessing a disreputable server at a restaurant was taking down numbers when swiping payment. Luckily my bank automatically cut off the card when a mysterious charge appeared in a different part of the country and with the incorrect expiration date.

Anyway, follow all the advice on mitigating identity theft, all that stuff. Sorry to hear about your loss, as it's a serious hassle to deal with something like this.

That reminds me of a time that Discover called me to authorize a charge that was being charged from some city in Eastern Europe. I can't remember where.

They were saying it's most likely an international eBay transaction or some such, but I assured them I hadn't ordered anything from the Eastern Ukraine. I'm glad I had account security.

And this concludes the story of "How Black.Ice Was Thwarted When Attempting to Get a Mail Order Bride".

Don't leave your stuff lying about unsupervised.
Try not to keep your entire identity inside one square foot to be stolen or destroyed,
and try not to be one of those fools who steal others stuff.

The same thing happened to my dad about the drivers license. His license was stolen and someone was using it. Well guess what? He got two tickets issued and sent to him in two places he's never been before. So someone is driving around with his license.

Thank ya Jesus there ARE some good ppl still out there!!

My purse was found and turned in! With EVERYTHING still in it! :D

Nothing was stolen--I've kept track of all my bank accounts online. None of my checks were missing--My digital camera AND the memory card INSIDE it to hold pics was still there. My passport was there and my wedding stuff :D w00tn3ss!!

I was praying that everything would remain intact. This is the second time something like this has happened to me where EVERYTHING remained intact :] Once in Peru my wallet went missing and my cash and bank cards were in it. Some good samaritan turned it into the hotel front desk where I was staying and NOTHING was stolen.

I smell something that smells like someone gave birth to a shitbaby and it died. But then I work in a lab and they're probably making media for ice cream testing or something. Spoiled, septic milk is supremely gross.

It's boring how you got your stuff back so easily. What would've been beyond awesome was if you saw a dude disguised as a dude playin another dude who had your purse in some discreet location within the country of Japan. Then you had to chase him all around Tokyo, chemical factories, mudkipz, hentai animation studios, etc. As a finale, he would have to jump off a building and you go NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO then jump off with him and jack your purse while in midair. Dude--Did you see my thread at how I got my cell phone back after it was stolen from me?

I was very 007ish, lolz XD

It was missing for a week and after I got my new phone, my sim card info was transferred to my new phone.

I called the only girl on there and pretended to be the person who stole my phone. [Obviously it was a girl because my phone was pink.] I got the full name, city, school, and address of the person who jacked my phone.

It turned out to be a girl in my youth group [I was the youth leader which made it kinda akward for me cuz I was ready to throw down XD] I got reimbursed by her parents [She jacked my phone bill up to $200.00] and everything was straightened out. The girl won't talk to me anymore though. Kinda sad :(

That's like me, I returned a wallet that someone dropped on the ground. It had cards and a shitload of money.

Yes you're a bad person if you didn't give the person who lost the money some time to try and retrieve it.

Basically, if we assume that money was required for a critical surgery . . . for a child . . . an orphan child, and then we assume that the surgery was canceled because of the lost money, and the orphan child died as a result, you're more or less a murderer. A murderer of orphan children. How do you feel now, jerk?

Just because you find someone's car keys doesn't give you the right to steal their car. :[

Someone once dropped $200.00 in front of me while they were walking and kept walking.

The wind was blowing so they were getting ready to blow out into the street.

"Mam! Excuse me Mam!" I cried out as I ran and grabbed her money off the floor.

"Mam you dropped this..." I say as I come back up with the money.

You should've seen her face. She was soo happy and thanked me over and over for being honest and polite. Who knows what that money was for--A car payment....Part of a mortgage....Money for the doctors...Money for their children's needs--Or even food to last her and her family for the rest of the month.

Everytime I see that someone has dropped money I give it back to them no matter the amount. When you take money like that, that just goes to show how much you can be bought out for ;)

Getting your shit ripped off really blows. One time some friends and I were on vacation in Italy and we rented motos for the day to go up and down the gorgeous Amalfi coast. Well I got in an accident -nearly slid off a cliff- and scraped myself up but messed the scooter up a little too. When we returned them we didn't have much time to go over the damages because we had tickets to leave right away. So when I return to the states I find out the rental company grossly overestimated the damage on the bike and even though I disputed it with Visa, I wound up getting shafted with a $900 bill.

The sad thing is you can almost buy a new one of those cheap scooters for that kind of money. But overall that day was still the single greatest experience of my life- ask me to post pictures sometime.

I was under the impression that he found the money without noticing anyone around who might have left it behind. "Turning it in" almost certainly means the police will either A) give it back to you, or B) buy themselves something after a short waiting period.

There's a difference between finding a wad of money with someone's name on it and finding a wad of money with no way to identify the owner. Sure, you can try to find out who it belongs to, and if you're successful, they'll probably be incredibly appreciative. But there's really no way to know that the person you're giving the money to isn't just conning you, unless they know something like the denominations and exact value.
