Ok, people. I've filled my head up with Halo lore, so I figured I might as well have some fun with it. I'm going to start with the classic character introduction - a battle! For the questions, please PM me because those things can get in the way of the roleplaying, if you catch my drift. I will post any answers to your questions via editing this post. The availible races are, as (almost) always, human, Elites, and the races of the Covenant. The timeline is around the beginning of Halo 3. If people participate, perhaps we can get past the game. Please note that ANY AND ALL JACKASS POSTS WILL BE DELETED! I am tired of people posting crap like "I'm a nude medic. Here's my character sheet." Anyways, I'll start us off...
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The pack drew further apart, my fellow pack-mates taking position silently around the marked settlement. Chieftan Goralsh ordered a scouting party, composed of two of my brothers and a handful of grunts, to ensure that no heretic forces were in the area surrounding us. I sniffed... and my lip curled. I could smell the human dogs from where I hid, as I'm sure could all the others. My arm edged closer to my Spike Rifle, but I pulled it back. I would have my turn... very soon. I looked to the others in time to see Captain Oshitar, my rival, get a nod from the Chieftan. He made a quick, nigh-imperceptible arm motion to the grenadier Grunts, and several beeps were heard. Five glowing blue orbs flew towards the settlement. I could smell the dogs' fear and panic as they scrambled for cover. The Chieftan screamed "CHARGE!"
The pack pounced.
I impaled more than one heretic limb on my way to the structure. One of the dog's head exploded as it was struck from a grenade launched by Captain Oshitar. Reaching for my belt, I primed a spike grenade, bashed open a window with my fist, and tossed it at a screaming heretic. I laughed. Then a sniper shell whizzed past my head, hitting another and crippling is armor. I ducked for cover, just in time to avoid two more sniper shells that hit only a couple feet away. Then...
WHATHOOMP!
The Chieftan used his magnificent Gravity Hammer to deflect a grenade, then leaped into the structure. Mass comotion would have ensued if it hadn't already. I dropped my Spike Rifle and reached for my Plasma Launcher. It glowed red in my hand... waiting for its turn to feed. I turned and feasted it with the sniper, and collected my Spiker. I narrowly avoided bieng caught within an explosion of a heretic grenade, and then continued about on the battlefeild.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The final body count was eleven heretics, four Grunts, and two of us. I scored three of the kills, just under the four that Oshitar had slain. I'd have to work harder next time to surpass him...
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[Character Sheet]
Name: Gronis Ol'rag
Rank: Brute Tracker
Primary Weapon: Spiker (a.k.a. Spike Rifle)
Secondary Weapon: Brute Plasma Rifle (a.k.a. Plasma Launcher)
Grenade of Choice: Spike Grenades
Rival(s): Brute Captain Seak Oshitar
Background: Gronis is a Tracker with a temper, so angering him is not the best idea and could prove fatal. He loves his Spiker more than he loves the next Brute, and has found many uses for his red Plasma Rifle. As a very accomplished fighter, he has never had to repair his power armor, yet he still keeps his kill ratio up. He works fiercely to outclass Captain Oshitar, but otherwise is as well-behaved as Brutes get... which isn't much.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Well, people. Enjoy! I'll be back tomorrow or maybe later today to see what develops. Thanks in advance for whatever you post (unless, of course, you're a jackass!), and best of luck to all roleplayers in finding a place in the world where it doesn't laugh at you. Sayonara!

Sorry to disappoint you, pronogo, but we already have a Halo RP (http://www.warboards.org/showthread.php?t=33905) running. Perhaps if and when that ends, you can begin this one, but two at one time is a little unnecessary, don't you think? It does seem to be dying off quickly at the moment, so your wait may be rather short as this pans out.

IT already ended. It's dead. The Halo RP had no plot or story or realistic setting.

And this does? You can't just drop people in a universe as detailed as the Halo one and expect it to run perfectly, doesn't work. In fact, it doesn't work at all. I'd recommend that you think of a story and set it somewhere that doesn't have much that was ever defined that way people have a little more creative freedom.
Also, don't ever think you know more about Halo than I do. Cause you don't. So there.

Well, Biohazard, as for your first "issue," I believe that the Halo universe gives a very large amount of creative freedom. Some people just don't use it. For instance, I have never seen anyone rolplay as a Brute OR use first-person to describe their character, setting, and what happenes to and around the character. Some others who are creative do not use it well, so take that for what you will.
As for your "I know more about Halo than you do" post, I cannot accept your challenge because I don't know exactly how vast your knowledge of our favorite games/books/comics are. Please do not post everything you know about Halo because it would make you look like a retard and would take up too much space, considering you know so much and all. If you really want to, private message me containing the details.
Seeing as how no one has posted anything related to roleplaying, I'll continue with my character.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I awoke from my dreamless sleep aboard our cruiser. I could smell something in the distance. I sensed something on the verge. I stood up and grabbed my authorization card and, swiping it on my quarter's door scanner, exited through the portal. I noted that two other Brutes had also exited their chambers. One was Ficel Deorgal, a Tracker I knew from the previous battle. He had only gotten one kill. The other Brute I didn't recognize, so I didn't know what he was trained as, nor his rank. I nodded to Ficel and moved towards the left exit of the chambers. I sniffed, and smelled something. I couldn't place it - it was alien, strange. Ficel followed, but the other Brute stayed behind.
We continued, straight from the quarters, after armoring ourselves using the power armor slots. We passed the Jackals' quarters, but I stopped at the armory. Looking to Ficel, I said "The scent isn't coming from here. We should be ready in case it's a scent of trouble." He understood, and replied "Continue on, lest you lose the scent. I will grab weapons for two, then I will bring them to you." I frowned. "I won't lose the scent." He laughed. "Regardless of your skill, the scent-bearer is tricky. I have already lost it." I humored him. "I will see you in three minutes or less?" I asked. He looked insulted. "Or less," he replied. We parted ways, and I continued on through another door and turned a corner. I remembered the scent from somewhere, back before I had started training. I just couldn't place the creature. I thought hard, thinking of all the biengs I had encountered before. It wasn't a heretic, that was for certain. A Brute scent wouldn't stick out, nor would a Jackal or Grunt one. I thought of the other creatures under our control. I had never personally met a Prophet, and I had only read of the deadly Hunters, although I saw no reason for either to be aboard, nor for them to have been encountered by me when I was young. I heard footsteps behind me, and turned to see a weapon-carrying Ficel running towards me. By my count, it had been less than two units. He handed me a Spike Rifle, a Shot Launcher, and three Spike Grenades, as well as two extra clips for the Spiker and an extra string of Grenades for the Launcher. He had gotten himself two Spikers and a Plasma Rifle, as well as four Spike Grenades and three extra clips for his Spike Rifle. I had thought 'by the Prophets, he has armed us as if we were on an attack assignment!' I realized, though, that he had wanted to make sure we were prepared. "Were you able to identify the scent?" he asked. I shook my head. "I only know it is something I remember from my childhood. I cannot identify it any further than that." He nodded, deep in thought. We passed the Grunts' quarters and a storage room, as well as the Grunts' armory. We finally came to the largest storage room in the ship. We both knew the scent was coming from there. "That is where they store all of the large-scale explosives!" Ficel whispered urgently. I understood the reason for the urgency in his voice, but I still couldn't place the scent. I felt a strange sense of warning, deep in the pit of my stomach. I ignored my strange feeling and, pointing from Ficel to the door with my Spike Rifle, took up position on one side of the door while he took out his card. I was sweating. I made sure the clip was in, and aimed it at the door. He swiped his card, and... the door didn't open. I looked at him, puzzled. He answered my unasked question. "I don't have sufficient authorization to access the room. My rank isn't high enough." Mentally, I laughed at the situation. "Well, this is brilliant. Try my card." I tossed mine to him. He tried it, with the same results. I took mine back, and said "We'll have to find someone with a higher rank."
It was right about then that I realized that we hadn't seen any guards, honor or otherwise, since waking. I asked him if any were in the armory, and he replied "The room was completely empty. Why didn't I notice the lack of guards before?"I couldn't answer his question, nor could I answer the more important one: "Why aren't there any guards in the first place?" We headed back to our quarters. I noticed the other Brute had went back to his room, but I still saw no guards (or other brutes). I motioned to Ficel and we headed out through the other exit. There were guards here... why weren't there any on the other side? I approached one of the guard Captains and asked "Why aren't there any guards on the other side of the Brute quarters?" He looked at me, confused. "What do you mean? The sentries on the left side were posted at the same time as us." Ficel shook his head. "We were just there. No Brute is in sight after you leave the quarters." He looked puzzled. "Hold on," he said, and walked towards a group of two Brutes. The conversed, and after a little time, all three of them walked back to us. The captain said "Let's go have a look." Ficel nodded and we led them to the left exit. One of them said "What in the name of the Prophets is that scent?" I looked at him. "You are a Tracker?" He replied "I was trained as one." I nodded. "I have only encountered the scent once, before I had begun my training. I cannot place it, though." I explained. The guard who spoke nodded to show he understood. We exited the quarters again. It seemed that the other Brutes immediately noticed the lack of guards. We continued to the storage room, after turning the required corner. "We didn't have authorization to open the door, and when we were there, we didn't notice that there were no guards. We know the scent is coming from that room, though." Ficel said as he motioned towards the door with his arm. The captain took out his card and was about to move towards the door, when I said "Wait." He questioned "What?", but stepped down. I said "How do we know what's in there? We should be prepared." I took up position beside the right side of the door, visually showing them what I meant. They followed suit, two of them pointing their Spikers at the door, Ficel on the other side, and the Captain swiping his card. The door opened, and... nothing. The scent was the strongest I'd ever smelt it, but I saw nothing. Then it hit me. The scent was indeed alien. I now knew why I had smelt it before, because when I was young, it was before the Covenant had split, before the Brutes became the dominant Covenant species. "Elites..." I murmured. "Wha-?" the captain asked, but it was too late for him. His scream sounded seemingly before the sword sprouted through his chest. His blood flew as the blue radiance of the Elite weapon sliced his flesh open. A quick-thinking Brute grabbed something off of the captain's belt, pressed a button, and threw it. Then he shouted "Dive!" We did. The alien's cloak faltered and his shield blew as the Energy Drain sucked out his suit's power. I grabbed my Launcher and shot wildly, as the others grabbed their weapons. The explosions nearly defeaned me, and I heard a scream filled to the brim with pain. I was temporarily blinded as the Energy Drain let off its last drain waves and exploded. The alien's corpse lay there, its blood splattered on the wall and some of the crates. Ficel looked at me and shouted "What were you thinking?! This room holds large-scale explosives! That Launcher could've destroyed the entire cruiser!" I knew he was right, but still I said "Well, it didn't. That's all that matters." He sighed and collected the captain's gear. The other Tracker said "We'll have to report this to the higher-rankings. They'll take care of it." I nodded, and bent over to collect the Elite's equipment, and the broken cloaking device (at least that's what I assumed it was). It was time to get some sleep.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
For those who may be wondering, I refer to the weapons like a Brute would. For instance, "Spike Rifle" and "Spiker" are both used by Brutes, but "Brute Shot" has been replaced with "Shot Launcher." "Energy Drain" is the same thing as a "Power Drain," obviously. Just clarifying. By the way, this is my first time describing a small battle (I call the first post a medium-sized battle, but that was a first, too). Tell me what you guys think, please! Thanks.

I would have to disagree somewhat. I've always been biased against first person, but I recently read a book series written entirely in first person and it happened to be quite well written.

I can handle it sometimes, but it just doesnt work very well if you want to cover a larger scope.

As for your "I know more about Halo than you do" post, I cannot accept your challenge blah blah blah blah I'm overreacting...
It was a joke, down boy.
Also, first person is okay when it's written by someone talented. Something we've seemed to be lacking from some people around these parts lately.
