I just recieved this email.

Hello,
I am Barr. Stefan Booth, Attorney to Late Mr. Kim Peter a foreigner and an Engineer with A.pz Construction Company. Late Kim Peter has an account with a Bank here, which he opened in 2003.He died here in Uk 2004, I received a
memo early this year from the Bank remittance department for an interview about $14M USD that belongs to my client Late Mr. Kim Peter, the bank informed me on their policy to freeze the account of Late Mr. Kim Peter, I was asked to redirect the ($14m usd) back to government treasury because they saw no next of kin in his entire file within the bank and his account has been dormant for years which is against the policy of the Bank.

I am contacting you because of the need to involve a foreigner as the foreign beneficiary to that fund. I have resolved to share the money in this ratio.50% for me,35% for you,10% for the remittance manager in the bank who has agreed to guide us for the success of our objectives and 5% for expenses we might incure in the processing of this transaction.

I will need your full name and address including telephone and fax number for the internal processing of the fund. I will start the internal processing of the required documents to back up our claim on receipt of all the required information from you which was given above.
I will give you further details on the entire process when I receive your positive response. Respond to my private email addrss:
Regards
Barr.Stefan Booth Esq.

In the first place, he didn't even mention which bank, so it makes it even more obvious.

Their target is not just one no-life aussie. They spam that email. Every now and again they find a sucker who's dumb enough to fall for it.

Why a citizen of the Benin Republic is using a french yahoo account remains a mystery to me.

EDIT: Oh wait, their official language is french. This one was thought through.

To the OP:

These sort of things have been floating around the internet since at least the mid-1990s, if not earlier. But thanks for the warning, I guess.

You know what might be fun? Open a new bank account with only a few dollars in it, then reply and see what happens. For example, it would be cool to see if they have a reaction to finding only $5 in your account.

Haha Modred, that's a great idea, remind me to try it.

You wouldnt even have to make a new account, because we both know you only have like 5$ anyway.
=)

To giggly's post, that had terrible grammar and everything... if it was real, it would be written better..

He meant that if it isn't a scam, professional and legit agents would write legibly and professionally with correct spelling and grammar... which is the opposite of what's shown on your post.

So, your boosting your ego and post count with your last three posts. I was pointing something out, and you come back, and instead of continue a discussion on the topic here, you just troll. Nice.

I guess thats why people like you so much.

Yeah. Some people make a habit (very carefully) of reverse-scamming them. (http://oddorama.com/2008/02/11/scamming-the-scammers-5-brilliant-419-reverse-scams/)

Dear Barr. Stefan Booth,

I am a representative of the chief justice John. G. Roberts of the United States of America. You will be attending a court hearing the 13th of September. We will fax you the legal documents including answers to any questions you may have.

This is how you should responded to that scam, with another. Email a 2nd email right after the first telling them the first was bullshit. Oh and that's McDonald's phone number too.

Subject:I’ll try anything once

Ave, gentleman!

the last piece of bread, to live in hovel because I feel that you are a
part of my soul, of my lonely soul which is looking for its second half.
I am romantic nature; I am very sensitive and devoted. You will find true
family happiness with me, you will have the most beautiful and happiest
children with me and you will never know quarrels and wars in family with

Got that same exact mail a week ago or so. As usual the only thing that I did was reporting it as spam and then adding it to the blocked sender list in my Outlook. :)
