View Full Version : Interest check- fairly awesome ideas

So I decided to log in for the first time in forever and wanted to check on your guys interest for RPs. I have 4 basic ideas which could go in whatever direction you choose.

Futuristic rebellion- This ones intro is already written out. Based on the one-world conspiracy theory. Basically, The world was taken over by the Illuminati and now there are some people fighting them. Deeper than that, but will suffice for now. Very loose story. Very.

Necromancy- I had this on written out already as well, but don't want to post it yet. The basic idea is that there are necromancers searching for an artifact of some sort. They use magic and can travel to a kind of alternate reality where dead spirits go. Fairly strict story.

Psychic powers/experiments- Basically, some POWs are in a Neo-Nazi science lab, being tested on. Good guys bust in to save them, turns out they have super powers 'n stuff. Fairly loose story, but with an end goal.

Starcraft- I posted a thread a while back that was fairly well recieved. I thought I'd post it again with some twists and see where it goes. This was posted a year ago, I think. Basically, Raynors ship goes down, there are some Toss and Zerg, bigass battle goes down.

Give me some feed back.

Sorry, but I forgot how to make a poll. (dur) Just say your opinions. I don't think it's beyond your grasp.

I agree with DarkMirror. That, to me, looks like the one with the most promise. Also the strongest story.

Well, obviously Starcraft has the strongest story, but I'd rather play something a bit different.

Alright. I'll write up an intro later, as well as a way to randomize powers. I think that would be better than everyone choosing the same one.

How about you make a list, and whoever posts first gets to choose it. No one else can choose that power from the list.

I was thinking I roll a dice. That way noone controls it. Also, do you think Nazis would ask POWs what expirements they want done?

People like when they have some say in their character. A power would be a pretty big part of their personality, so IMO, we should get to choose it, either on our own or from a list.

They would still choose every other aspect of their character, from looks, to personality, to weapons. In fact, perhaps a good plot device could be jealousy over powers.

Perhaps I will allow a major and minor power. The major one would be random and the minor could be chosen personally, but have less potency. Regardless, Telekinesis, for example, could be a very popular power. The RP would not be very diverse if what could be an epic battle resulted in people just throwing boxes with their minds.

Another idea- Should this be limited to Psionic-type powers, such as Telekinesis, Pyrokinesis, Telepathy, or should I include mutations, such as animal-hybrid transformations, super strength, ect? Should you have one of each, or just one? Input, please?

Me personally, I'd like acrobatics, stick to walls, with a little bit of strength. Some telekinesis would be fun, but I like the quick combo-hitters.

How about teleportation? That one I'd take.

I like the idea of having both psionic/mental powers and mutation powers.
Also, your powerful/weaker system reminds me of my own system for making up powers when I think of which ones I would like to have. I choose an Active power and a Passive Power.

For instance, Technomancy and Enhanced Regeneration.

Allright, this is the intro.

“Are the preparations ready, Dr. Shnaus?”
“Almost, Mein Fuhrer. The animal tests have been hugely successful. Only one in 10 subjects result in cerebral hemorrhaging now. All we need are human subjects.”
“That can be arranged, Shnaus.”

As Claus left the room, Shnaus turned his head back to his work. There, in the test room, sat 20 simians. 18 of them tested their newfound powers, with shock and awe. 2 lie on the floor, blood seeping from their ears. It pained Dr. Shnaus to press the button which would gas the chamber, but he had to. As noxious gasses filled the room, and the monkeys began to pass out, Shnaus hung his head. Is this what his research had come to? Gassing monkeys? As he thought of this, a tear came to his eye.

WEAPONS

Guns- can be one long arm and one side arm, or 3 side arms.

Long arms-
LAPAR 13- The Light Anti Personal Assault Rifle. Fires .38 rounds at 60 rounds/minute. Can tear through flesh with ease. Each clip holds 50 rounds.

Fisheye 50.- A .50 sniper rifle. Can be modded to fire semi-explosive rounds. Can punch a hole through a tank. Each clip holds 10 rounds.

Dispatcher 08- a high-power, 8 gauge shotgun. Very powerful. Holds 6 rounds per clip.

LRAAL- The Long Range Anti Armor Launcher can fire 60 mm rockets or standard grenades.

Side arms-
Broken Butterfly- .45 revolver. Has been known to blow heads clean off. Holds 6 rounds per clip.

SHAPP 9- Silenced Hand-held Anti Personal Pistol. Fires .357 (9mm) rounds, sports a silencer and a laser sight. Perfect for stealthy infiltrations. Each clip holds 12 rounds.

Terrier SMG- A small Sub Machine Gun. Can extend the stock and heat-shield to swap between uzi or full length size, depending on the needs of the user. Fires 9mm rounds. Holds 60 rounds/ clip,


.38 Magnum Special- A .38 semi automatic handgun. Holds 16 rounds/clip.

Melee Weapon- Can be any one of the following.

Stun Baton- An electrical stun baton. A single whack can knock out any human, but it can only sustain about two dozen strikes before the battery fails.


Combat Knife- A stainless steel 12'' blade makes this a tough knife to beat. It can be used as a prying tool. Is balanced for throwing.


Riot Shield- Though not technically a weapon, this shield can be used as one. When extended to full size, it is 4 feet tall and 2 feet wide, but it can be retracted to 1 foot by 6 inches.

Throwing weapons- You may carry 3 of the following at any one time. Eg- 2 frags and an EMP, 3 frags, 2 incendiaries and an EMP, 2 Knives and a tracker/stunner, ect.

Throwing knife- Different from the standard combat knife in that it is shorter and more suited for throwing. Can still be used for stabbing attacks and prying, but is useless at slashing, and less adept at prying.

TSAIO 110- This is a very small object which sticks to virtually any surface. When approached by a live target, it emits an electrical discharge and knocks them out. It also provides a live feed of location, as well as a camera feed, to a device used by the operator. This device can also be used to change the discharge to trigger when prompted.

F10 AP Grenade- A fragmentation grenade with an effective blast radius of 10 feet, with wounds up to 15.

F20 AA Grenade- A fragmentation grenade with a lethal blast radius of 5 feet, with wounds up to 7. Highly concentrated blast and shaped charge make this grenade very effective against vehicles.

EMP AD Grenade- This grenade emits an electromagnetic pulse with a radius of 20 feet, disabling all electronics nearby and causing them to emit erratic discharges of electrical energy.

I10 AP Grenade- This grenade is filled with a highly volatile substance which can combust with very little energy applied. The kinetic force of the grenade breaking is often enough to set it off, in case the small charge fails to ignite.





POWERS-
Psionic- These powers are manipulated using the mind, and only the mind. Excess use results in headaches, nausea, and light fatigue.

Telekinesis- The ability to throw objects with ones mind. As a minor power, it can lift a 50 pound object and throw it 25 feet. As a major power, it can lift 250 pounds across multiple targets, and throw them 40 feet. A Telekinetic who unlocks their full potential can lift over 2 tons across hundreds of objects, and throw them roughly 200 feet.

Pyrokinesis- The ability to manipulate energy, namely Thermal and Electrical in the form of fire and lightning. As a minor ability, it can control both types of energy for roughly 5 minutes at a time, and amplify it only slight amounts. As a major power, it can manipulate both types of energy for approximately half an hour, or both simultaneously for 10 minutes. They can amplify this energy to form fairly large fires from sparks, or create a major electrical shock from small currents. A Pyrokinetic who unlocks their full potential can create fire and lighting with little or no source, and control it for hours.

Telepathy- The ability to read minds and communicate without any devices. Although everyone (even non-Psionics) has this ability, however dormant, unlocking your Psi abilities enables you to use this to a greater degree. Everyone with a Psi-Power can send very primitive messages to a minor or major user. Minor users can read the surface thoughts and feelings of a person in close proximity, as well as send more complex messages. Major users can send very complex messages and read deeper thoughts and emotions from people farther away. Someone who has reached their potential can read every though of any person for miles away, unless they have a Psi power and attempt to block out the intrusion.

Mind Control- The ability to control or influence somebody’s actions without their knowledge. Minor users cannot force someone to do something drastic (eg shoot a friend, kill themselves, ect.) but they can control a target to an extent, for a few minutes. As a major power, a target may be forced to do almost anything, including (although will cause symptoms described above) kill themselves. They may be controlled for up to half an hour. Major users may also control multiple people, although this lowers their level of control and becomes increasingly difficult. Someone who has unlocked their full potential can control many people for hours or one person indefinitely. A person with Psi powers can resist mind control.

Out of Body Influence- Similar to Telekinesis, but with a few major changes. This power allows you to project your view beyond your physical form, and even perform minor interactions. As a minor power, one can explore roughly 50 feet away from your body for about 20 minutes. Interactions are limited to low strength ones, such as giving a light shove, pushing a button, or moving a light object. As a major power, you may move roughly 100 feet from your body and do more complex interactions, including lifting objects up to 35 pounds and moving them freely. One who has unlocked their full potential may move anywhere, for any amount of time, and interact to the point of Major telekinesis. When using this power, your body is vulnerable. Your consciousness, however, remains invisible.

Mutations- These are physical changes that you may acquire. They rely on increased caloric intake. Failure to produce required calories (4000-10000 per day, depending on usage) results in severe cramps, hunger pangs, and possibly starvation.

Animal-human hybrid- This allows you to transform to a part animal, part human, at will. Only the change itself requires more calories, not remaining in the state. With enough calories (upwards of 30000,) it is possible to completely morph into an animal.

Hyperactive metabolism- Improves metabolic rate to increase blood flow, muscle mass, bone density, and visual acuity, among other things.

Enhanced Regenerative abilities- Allows for a vastly improved white blood cell count, which speeds up healing up to 10000%. Cuts and scrapes heal almost instantly, and bones heal within hours. Brain damage and major internal bleeding can be healed, but since this relies on caloric intake, these must be taken care of in a controlled environment, where caloric intake can be adjusted very quickly.

Adhesive appendages- Allows the user to stick to almost any surface using a substance excreted by their palms and heels. This allows for ease when climbing or holding on to something. The extra calories needed for this power are almost negligible.


Hella long, I know. If nobody has anything they want changed by the time I get home today, the RP goes up.

Wouldn't it make more sense for us not to be military dudes? If this is a Neo-Nazi base, I would figure they would experiment on random nobodies to avoid attention.

Yeah, it would be fine for maybe a few of us to have, I dunno, former military training, but most of us should just be average Joes. That way we can be, you know, panicky and scared all the time.

Any weapons you want your character to have could be picked up from Neo Nazi Guards. But no saying "Joe threw a crate and hit a guard in the back of the head. Then he went up and looted his corpse for a LRAAL a LAPAR 13, a Terrier SMG, and a Broken Butterfly."
