A friend of mine had a problem while installing the 1.22 patch - namely, that after patching he was unable to start his game (the error manifested for him as 'cannot find CD'. It appears to be reasonably prolific, so I figured I'd post the solution here:
Download this (http://liczniki.org/vcredist_x86.exe), and it should fix your problem. In the (likely) case that URL looks suspect to you, it's linked from here:

which is linked on the bnet WCIII forums by Demon_Devil.
It did not create any problems for my friend, who subsequently played a game online without trouble.
