I need your help!

Hi,

I'm here because I'm trying to track down a custom war3 map I made nearly 5 years ago. It was called Helm's Deep REAL. Myself (Khamul_2003) and my friend (Sw1mmerFL) made the map. I later updated it after TFT. I've found maps on the warcraft.org site, but most of them are either old versions or ones in which some kid got a hold of it and edited the shit out of it (and took all the credit).

Anyways, I started playing DOTA again and want to track down the latest copy of my old map (if at all possible). I remember protecting it so the map wouldn't open in an editor but I know there's a way around it.

My last version I remember making in 2003 was called Helm's Deep REAL TFT and it had custom skins (not made by me) of Aragorn, Legolas, elven archers along with a click-to-open gate trigger system and most importantly (and dearest to be), CUSTOM hero abilities.

I spend many a long hour making this map and for sentimental reasons I wouldn't mind having a copy of my last map. Can anyone help me out? Like I said, my last version had all custom hero abilities, a few skins, and that gate trigger.

the only protected version of the map I found in my quick search was this one:

it is made by khamul_2003 and sw1mmerFL, but there are no custom skins or abilities so I doubt it is the map you are looking for.

this version has custom hero abilities but no custom skins, and it has a different author, however. It is unprotected.


Do you (or your friend) have a protected copy of the map?

Yeah both of those are the map I created from scratch, but either they are not the later made version (with my custom abilities and imported skins) or a version where some damn kid had to ruin it by adding poor abilities riddled with spelling errors and other crap.

I made this map when I was in college, and between then and now I got a new computer, so I no longer have the map. Also, I just started playing some War3 again after maybe 4 years.

It's just really frustrating going to these mod sites and seeing a dozen copies of my map, all with different cheesy alterations and some kid taking credit for the entire map. :(



It'd be really great to find it just to remember all that work I put into it and maybe play it again. I put countless hours into balancing and playing with people on bnet. It was a popular map in its time and I feel stupid for not holding on to a protected copy.

The "Helms Deep" maps were very popular on Bnet, there were lots of different version floating around.

I think there was a "Troy" edit of it too.
