View Full Version : Wav files not working

I can't get them to play in my map for some reason. I've tried adding them both as virtual wav files and normal but no sound either way.
On a related note, I can't get a transmission to play for one of my heroes, even though the trigger is identical to the others except the text in the transmission.

Do you have Hyper triggers? If not, try adding them and trying again.
I do have hyper triggers.

The reason is because those WAV's are saved as MPEG-Layer 3 WAV's. You can only save them as PCM WAV. Note that they are significantly larger, you'll just have to live with it.
Here, I fixed them for you.
Ok thanks, you think they're still worth adding into the map then?
EDIT: How exactly do you do that to wav files? I'll probably be adding more so it'd be good to know =D
And why can't I give you rep? It says I must spread reputation around before giving it to you again but I didn't give any to you recently...
I'm also having an issue with the cyclone spell for Denny Da Wurm (reaver hero) not ending properly (I asked about it in the Duel The RPG Concept Map thread but no one's responded yet).
EDIT2: I figured you guys would want what I have of my map so far so you can see the triggerwork. 10496
Not much done so far. So far I have 2 heroes pretty much completed (will probably balance them out later) and 2 heroes I'm having trouble finishing.

Well, the best method is to use Sound Recorder, funny enough. It's already pre-installed with Windows, under Start>>Programs>>Accesories>>Entertainment. Just open up a wav and File Save As, then play with the settings. It saves it as PCM by default.
I'll write a quick tutorial up for you a little later.
Brilliant, now the hypertrigger doesn't seem to want to work anymore either... WHY CAN'T I DO ANYTHING RIGHT?!? And the cyclone spell STILL doesn't end properly... I suck...

You put the hyper trigger under a player that has no other triggers with a "Wait" action in them, right?
And you didn't put any triggers with "Wait" actions in them under "All players", did you?
I have the hyper trigger under All Players, and nothing else in All Players. It worked before and I never changed it, I don't get why it suddenly stopped working...

Don't put them under all players, man. If you do that, then if any of the players have triggers with wait actions, it affect your hyper triggers, and causes huge wait blocks. Put them under something else (not current player). Try giving Player 12 a start location and putting them under him, if you don't have any player slots open for it. I don't know whether it'll work or not.
Ok I'll try... the wait commands never messed it up before though... and I'm also getting this wierd error message...
String corruption detected in line 1036, file .\CCHK.cpp.
String ID: 127 String contents: NULL
REPORT THIS!
From what it says, I'm guessing it's trying to tell me there's an error in string 127... there is no string 127... other than popping up and being annoying though, the error doesn't appear to do anything.
EDIT: Hmm, still doesn't seem to be working... oh wait, forgot to give start location to player 12, I'll try that... spell ends properly now though =D.
Hmm, nope, still doesn't work... might have something to do with the sounds I put in, I'll try removing the bigger one... agh, still doesn't work... might be what the error message was trying to tell me, don't know how I would fix it though...

That is very bad.
It doesn't do anything =/. How is an error in a string that doesn't exist bad?

Well, once I had a map with string corruption and weird stuff happened.
Oh. How do I fix it? It might be my problem here. I can't just delete the string, because the string doesn't exist, and my backup copy also gets the error lol =/.
EDIT: Ok, I fixed the error message (I had to remove the sound effects to do so though D=), but the hypertrigger still doesn't want to work =(.
EDIT2: Ok, I put the sound effects back in and the error message didn't come back... wierd... I think it's ok to have them, although I might just get rid of them, I found a sound effect that doesn't take up space and would work just as well.

String ID: 127 String contents: NULL
That means that something is still using the string, like a unit name, location, or whatever, but the string doesn't exist. I hope you didn't delete it. It's not necessarily a very bad thing, but Swarm is right in that string corruption causes funky things to happen to maps.
I've never deleted strings, so I don't have to worry about that. Anyways, I got the error message to disappear. I simply took the sound effects mentioned out, and someone I didn't get the message again when I put them back in =).
But back to a more important issue: The hypertriggers still don't seem to be working. Did I do something wrong on them or am I encountering a bug in scmdraft or what?

Could you post the map in question? It'd be easier to help you that way.
I already posted it, but here it is again...

I think I fixed the error message but I can't seem to fix one bug in the reaver hero without the other reappearing.
Might be a bit confusing at first. Watch the lurker's movements at the top-right corner. It's a randomization thingy to give you a lurker hero instead of the hero you chose if you choose the hero it moves to.
And most of the triggers are only in place for player 1 so far (once I finish all the heroes, I'm copying them over to 2 and 3). So far I've just got the tutorial thingies for the heroes (haven't made tutorial for reaver yet).

The hyper trigger isn't working because you didn't specify which players it would work for. (basically it's set under no players)
Odd, you guys said to not put it under any players with wait commands on them, and I put it onto player 12 like you said =/.

Wrong, wrong, wrong. Even if I put hypers under Player 8, it would still affect Player 1's triggers.
I said I wasn't sure if it would work when posted under Player 12. Did you give him a start location? Try putting the hypers under a different player (haven't looked at the map yet, will in a bit)

Wrong, wrong, wrong. Even if I put hypers under Player 8, it would still affect Player 1's triggers.
Umm... that's not really what I said. I said that it wasn't under any players at all. I didn't realize it was under P12, because I opened it with StarEdit.
Hmm I'll look at it, probably did something goofy to it that I didn't notice =/.
EDIT: Ok, I tried putting it onto Players 1 - 3, and it still didn't work (and it also seemed to mess up the ending of the cyclone spell again). And yes, I do have a start location for player 12
