I seem to have noticed that starting positions effect your bo's dramatically. My problem is that I have played to much python, and don't quite understand the different bos to use, and when on the maps such as blue storm, and I think it is called zodiac.

It seems on those maps you are farther apart, and it is easier, and safer to go with a strong econ build, (14cc, etc. keyword is easier) and that most power builds fail against a good player. (at least mine do :D but that might be because of a different reason).

If anyone has any advice (simple or/and complex) I would appreciate it. I am going to watch replays, and see what they do different on maps though.

The further away you are from enemies and the longer it'll take him to get you scouted, the more you can focus on powermacro and less on cheese. That's the general idea.

For instance, on small 2-player maps where I can get to my opponent's base really fast in PvT, I'll very often do zea 2gate with protoss while sending two early probes to harass the T's SCVs and slow him down. While on big maps like Python with 4 starting locations I could go 2-gate-goons and quickly expand once I get 4 goons if I see that he's not going to early push, or get fast robotics, or DTs since I can block the ramp and hide the tech, etc.

Obviously, you should use the terrain to your advantage. Estimate what works better where and do that. Scout a lot and don't let your opponent surprise you, and expect more cheese on smaller maps.
