I heard someone say that wireless/cordless mice cause latency issues. Is this true?

No, the person that said that is a complete moron.

What happens when you run out of charge ;).

Yeah. I've been fucked several times by my mouse going low on batts. It starts like jumping around and shit.. Its sad.

But latency has nothing to do with your mouse...

I wish there was a way to check the battery level of my mouse...I don't think there's any way I can tell if its low. The box it came it says it should last like 6 months though.

It's not electric at all. I actually have no idea how it works. :/

Windows gives a popup when it's low, you can also check in Control Panel -> Mouse.

Additionally, there are some mice that have a battery indicator.

Wireless mice sometimes do interfere with your latency if it is a Bluetooth Wireless Mouse and you are running a LAN game through a Bluetooth Wireless Network.

Also, I have a bad relationship with wireless mice because most of the time my younger siblings hide it in their closets... since you don't have to unplug it, 'cause it doesn't have wires. ;D

I'm sure that can be fixed if you change the frequency of the wireless network.

Honestly my wire has NEVER gotten in the way of me playing so there is really no point practical point in having a wireless mouse. Most people just figure wireless is better or something but I have never had my wire get in the way.

Are you talking about wired or wireless. I've found very light of both so Id argue that lol

I have enough wires sticking out of various places in my room as it is.

One less wire is helpful.

Good for presentations too, as a cheap controller.

You still have to the cord from your USB to the wireless mouse router.

Of course. But considering that we are talking about non-tech-savvy people, I'd like to point out that that isn't an easy task to carry out, as it is an advanced process to manually change the Bluetooth frequency of a Wireless LAN, and even in some cases, plainly not possible.

It doesn't get in the way...that's impossible...the wire is behind the mouse. The problem is when the wires get tangled up behind your computer and one day your mouse has no slack.

In fact that's the main reason for which I currently use mine. :)
Although I initially started using it for everything the times where I noticed the battery depency the most where during games and it couldn't warn me to it due the game using the whole screen.

Not neccessarily. ;p My wireless mouse uses a USB pen as a broadcasting commands/receiver gadget.

Mine doesn't. It works with the Bluetooth Dongle, along with my Wireless Keyboard and mobile phone.

Also, there are easy 1-2-3 step battery replacements. You can switch from the usual built-in rechargeable battery to a high-powered high-perf Li-Ion rechargeable battery with a built-in warning system, e.g. the red optical light from below the mouse flickers on and off, or it release a shrill 5-second beep to warn you of dangerously low battery power every one and a half minute.
