I read the little article on banelings on http://starcraft2.com/features/zerg/baneling.xml and it seems that banelings were volatile at first, but "the queens have engineered a morph that can contain its energies until just the right moment."

I can imagine a terran marine is going :o when he suddenly sees multiple banelings unburrow all of the sudden while he is on patrol, or on the way to attack the zerg base.

Hey, looks like we might get an upgrade in campaign that kills banelings when you shoot them. Maybe. Possibly.

Well, banelings aren't immortal until you upgrade your marines with them acid rounds. They can be killed, but it is hard? It isn't confirmed yet that there will even be an upgrade for that.

I meant one-shot them. You never know, there might be a mission like that. Or not. Might have just been flavor text.

Hey, that doesn't sound that bad! It really doens't, but you would need a whole lot of banelings to breach terran defences, if they have bunkers, and terrans are usual makers and users of bunkers, and they often tend to put marines, firebats and ghosts, anf prolly a medic, but thats not too common.

At the moment there isn't an upgrade like that at all (that I am aware of) that allows terran one-shots of banelings, though it could make for a cool campaign mission. Not sure if it would be balanced in melee though. Perhaps it could work out somehow.

Hehe, hell no, but it imagine yourself a UMS where your goal is to kill as many banelings, with one marine, and the marine already have the upgrade. The banelings could kill you, but you could kill the banelings much easier. It would be like a hunt, and you will be the hunter, and not the hunted :D

I'm glad. The AI scripts for the attack actions of the baneling appear to be much more advanced than the infested terran's. That reaction delay they had was frustrating!

One a side not, I think the scientists' research was just filler text. Although I agree it would be interesting for a campaign.

You know what would be cool? Having a zergling or zealot as a playable character in Super Smash Brothers. The title, "Banelings approaching!" reminded me of "Challenger approaching!" Lol.

Hmmm... that would be interesting. But there would be the problem of their special abilities. Most of the characters in SSB has several abilities, but what would the starcraft units have?
