This just came in my head; what if the marines, battlecruisers etc. had lights when night came. It would be very cool and realistic with night and day, and space tileset can have day/night too. Remember, an asteroid may turn, or whatever.

Now to the point. If anyone have seen the Brood War intro, which I believe everyone has, then you can see the Alexander turning lights on for search of survivors, etc. now, I can imagine every battlecruiser having those kinds of lights, because it would just be natural. marines have their lights on the power suit, and other units like the tank have lights. Well, pretty much every unit have lights, so...

...So, when night comes, all the units turn on their lights, so that visibility radius doesn't become much shorter. Protoss have their blue lights, and they can be strong enough to light up the area. We'll just say Zerg have good enough natural night vision to see, and that would fit in evolutionary.

What do you guys think?

They have the technology and have shown it.

While I was at Irvine, I spoke with Samwise about it - he is always excited to find possibilities to use their latest Art tech - it's about finding the appropriate area within the game to use it. You won't likely find it in Multiplayer, but both Samwise and Dustin did speak to the possibility to see that sort of technology involved in Campaign missions. It stands to reason it could be possible to toggle/play with that those sort of effects in the Editor. We'll have to see.

Also, Nomads already have this feature.

Why can't cool graphical features like this be in multiplayer? I think it would be nice if you could have both day and night on maps like in WC3, only without any effect on gameplay beyond the looks. This'll give invisible and burrowed units a chance to shine more as they'll be harder to spot on night time ;p
