hey guys,

ive started messing around with GRP's that have 150+ images in them...

i extract them, fiddle with them then compress them back into a grp with SFGRPConv

seems fine untill i check the file size... its usually only a 3rd of the original file size... so i extract it again and voila...

how come SFGRPConv only compresses the first 67 (ish) images then all the rest r left blank (apart from the index colour i.e. they are all black... just black)

plx halp!

thanks
chum

To be honest, I'm not exactly sure why it's doing that. Are you sure you have the correct number of frames for the grp inserted into the program? If not then my only guess would be shadowflare (the creator of the program) would be the only one who could tell you why it's doing that.

Maybe it's just recycling the other frames because they were identical, to save space?

Were they?

the program doesnt analyze the content of the frame itself right? it just analyzes the name (i noticed there were dupes of each frame) and then takes out the duplicates...

why its stuck at 67 confounds me.... sorta screws up my plans for creating modifications of units such as the goliath or reaver

The problem is where you said that you "fiddle with them". What exactly do you do with the frames after having extracted them from the GRP, before having tried to compress them back into a new GRP?

My best guess is that fiddling with them meant replacing them with other image files, that were probably improperly made, thus SFGRPConv ignored them and did not compile those into the GRP.
