So I've been around the internet once or twice now, and I just can't seem to find a way to disable map protection with any editor.
I know its looked down upon, but eh, I still need to edit this map.
Is there a way to either contact the maker, who might have an unprotected version, or (hopefully) is there a way to circumvent the protection process?

Try and find the creator if at all possible. It is highly frowned upon to unprotect someone's map, and you will not receive an answer as to how to do it on these forums.

Yeah, try to find the maker of it first. Warboards frowns upon map unprotection here.

Its alright guys, no problem. As an artist, I respect others maps. Mostly, I just wanted to do a color change.
So... other questions? Well, on a totally unrelated topic, what programs are good for the non-glitchy color changes? (black, peach, green, light blue)

SCMDraft 2 has the function built in.
In fact, it's really the only map editor worth using.

Alright so I found out about players 9-12... but none of these is specfically BLACK. Im going to search on my own some more, but until then... hm.

StarCraft can only run 256 colors at one time ;). So thats why you get funky colors.

Colors 25 and 29 are often touted as perfect black. I'm not sure if that's true or not, but if you're on the Jungle or Badlands tileset, you can try colors 192 and 209.

Thank you Durandal, those later ones would have been very hard to locate alone!

Yeah, no problem. I chanced upon them a while back when flicking though some test maps, and they've come in handy since.
