Not sure if this should be in Tactical Chamber or not.

I just read a nice long rant on tl.net written by a guy who hated all of the cheese he was getting on iccup, mainly, gas stealing.

Personally I think that stealing gas is pretty bm, manner pylons are alright because they lower the effectiveness of your mineral mining, but gas stealing just completely changes your build: a real bitch TvP.

What do you guys think?

I think it's quite amusing. It changes the strategy needed and gives you an advantage. This is like saying DT rushes are cheap. I find it quite amusing when my newb friend steals my gas and it doesnt really have an effect of my game but when I steal his gas, it completely ruins him.

The guy was pissed at it becuase he lost and needed to blame it on something no doubt. Players just learn to deal with it. It necessarily isn't that hard.
It is the same with the Zerg, people use probes and SCVs to delay my fast expansion. What do I do about it? I just deal with it by going 12pool 11hat or building my hat in a different place.

How would gas steal be bm? lol that is exactly like saying that timing push is bm or 9pool is bm. I mean its a strategy as any other and does not even give that massive adventage for protoss.

Also I dont see how it would matter that it totally changes your build, changing your build to counter opponents play is exactly what sc strategy is about.

Honestly, it's not a question of whether a strategy is BM or not, if it's in the game, it's in the game, and there's nothing you can really do but deal with it. If it's not removed from the game (or banned from competative play), then it's probably not imbalanced.
