PRAGUE (Reuters) - A Czech police officer took a police campaign to cut traffic accidents a little too far when he shot at a pedestrian who crossed a road on a red light.

The policeman in the western city of Pilsen first fired a warning shot in the air. But when the man refused to return to the pavement, the officer shot at him twice but missed, the online edition of the Czech daily Pravo said.

No one was injured. The police officer faces a criminal investigation.
Uh yeah. I'm guessing that the pedestrian won't try that sort of thing again. :D

Have you seen the vid of the guy crossing the street who gets run over? Happened in May. It was captured by a red-light enforcement camera. The driver is some 75-year old lady. Figures

From snopes:

The crash was captured by one of the automated red-light enforcement cameras installed at a dozen intersections around Dayton to help reduce crashes caused by drivers running red lights. Each camera records 12-second motion videos used to issue citations to offending motorists.

...Although medics who found Tegtmeyer's bloodied body amidst a sea of broken glass initially pronounced him dead at the scene, he began breathing while in transit with paramedics and was fully resuscitated by doctors.

...Investigators reported that Tegtmeyer miraculously escaped alive because the dent in the side of the Subaru caused by the crash created a hollow space that allowed the vehicle to roll over him without crushing him to death.

Now that is one lucky son-of-a-bitch if I ever saw one. I saw that seven times in a row and I still can't beleive that. The car just swipes him right away and that's it. The guy never even sees it coming! Like I always said, when I turn 60, I am officially putting my driver license down. I don't know what it is about turning old that you instantly forget how to drive the second you turn 60 or something. Whatever it is, I'm guessing it's just like the attribute of the first snowflake of the season, which always triggers a million drivers to simultaneously forget how to drive.

Anyways, about the czech officer, I tottally agree with his side. If he fired a shot into the air, and the dumbass still kept walking, he deserved to be shot at, if not at least hit by a car, would have at least tuaght the observers a damn lesson.

Seriously, what is it about people that they know good things, they go to places and talk about the stupid actions of others, than go right out and do something totally stupid themselves? I know because I have done that once myself, I was engauged in a conversation at a game store about how dumb and oblivious people can be, then when I stepped outside, from the sidewalk onto the parking lot, I would have been creamed if the car right next to me had'nt stopped. Stupidity is just one of those things that no matter how hard you try, no one can avoid? I just try to avoid doing it as much as possible myself.

Why don't we just get cops to just shoot the bad drivers as well it seems to work.

I think like most old people that hit someone.. she turned left and continued to drive.. not knowing that anything had happened...thinking to herself..."wtf was that bump?"
