Heya, I was browsing around the intran looking for some non-Junior videos (although some of Junior's videos were cool, they get somewhat dull after a while). I definitely didn't find anything interesting that went out of the norm of most WoW video-taking that has already been done.

My hopes were virtually crushed, when suddenly something magical appeared in the form of a link in an IRC chat (BTW, if you're wondering how to connect to the Warboards IRC chat - go here (http://www.warboards.org/showthread.php?t=2931)). I was linked to a video by some friends of mine ^_^.

Anyway, as the name of the guild implies, the people filming the video were playing as undead characters. One of them was a priest, the other looked like a warrior. The video is simply of the two characters roaming throughout the WoW universe attacking a number of different monsters in a number of different environments.

The three things that caught my attention in this video were:
A) The fact that the people were actually smart enough to add in music to the scenes they had - it's really actually befitting music (at least in my opinion ^_~). I usually jibe to MMOGs with hard rock or punk, so it was as though I was already playing ^_^. It really gets you pumped up.

B) They clipped the scenes to avoid the boring waiting//running around doing nothing scenes like so many other videos have done in the past. The video may be long, but it's 100% action.

C) The awesome underwater battle they shot ^_^. Seriously, it's the coolest thing in the world. I can't wait until I can partake in a few underwater PvP events :). - If you want to fast forward to the underwater battle head to ~9 minutes in.

Anyway - viewer discretion advised as there may be some swearing in the songs, and in the little interlude they have. Enjoy everyone:

Hmm, Alrightie. I may just have to torrent the video. I'll make up the torrent in one second.

Edit: I made up a quick torrent until I find somewhere to host the file (I should have one soon, so no worries ^_^). My upload is 30 KB/s, so hosting the file myself would be death X_x. Here's the torrent for now:

If you have no clue how to use torrents, now may be an awesome time to learn! I've always been a huge fan of Shad0w's experimental torrent client called BitTornado. You can download it here:
http://bittornado.com/

Basically a torrent link is a link to information about a certain file (ie. filesize, name, etc.), as well as information on the tracker. A Torrent tracker simply oversees the downloads of this file and connects various users together so they can leech (more on that in a bit). The tracker is the key part of the download.

The torrent client is much like a download client. It just oversees all of the information being sent and received. It allows you to limit the amount of data you want to upload (and in doing so, limit how much you download). This is the key part about using torrents - one must not only download from other people, but also upload. By doing this, we're able to cut down on the stress of a single server and distribute a file to hundreds, even thousands of people, instead of a few single people.

Anyway, I'm really kind of blabbering. In short, if you want to use a torrent, download the torrent client I mentioned earlier. Then download a torrent link (the filename should be .torrent). Open the torrent link and specify where you want to save the file. Then set the maximum upload to whatever works best for you - this part is a bit tricky as it depends completely on your connection to the internet - just play around a bit and see what works best. I work best at 20 KB/s and 4 uploads at a time (I get ~300 KB/s on an active torrent this way). Then just let the torrent work away until it's done downloading the file.

Shala. That's the basics of using torrents. Anyway, now that I've actually got this torrent running and everything going smoothly . . . I've realized I know somewhere to host the file. So I'll be back soon after I upload the file - so you can either torrent the file or just wait for me to get back.

------------------------------------------------------------------

Edit: Guah! Foiled again. Apparently the hosting I was planning on using doesn't allow 140 megabyte files . . . *sigh*. Hahaha, anyway, I'll keep the torrent open for a week or so and allow anyone who wants it to get it.

Also, the more people that use it at once, the quicker the download speed. So if we get several people going right now, added in with the fact that I advertised the torrent at suprnova.org and a few other torrent sites, we should be strolling along. Anyway, to those that go through the paintaking efforts, enjoy ^_^.

Also, to those that have the file downloaded, be a chum and help me seed for a bit after you finish the download ^_~.

I hope they don't lose their beta access then. The Terms of Service explicitly bans making videos of the game for distribution, although screenshots are allowed. But Blizzard usually isn't that anal about enforcing most of their ToS agreement - they've barely enforced the naming policy on the PvP server.

I'm actually quite sure that Blizz changed that rule - about user-made gameplay videos being prohibited. I tried looking for the post, but apparently it has either been moved or deleted X_x. Anyway, I found this user-made FAQ making reference to the post Kat made about these videos:
http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.aspx?FN=wow-general&T=109847#Post109847

Since the post, a number of videos have been released, including Junior's rather infamous videos :).

As an update - the torrent currently has 37 users connected to it and a total speed of 500 KB/s. If anyone's looking for a time to download, now might be a good time to connect :).
