View Full Version : Affect of cheats on Computer AI

Hi Folks,

While I'm sure this has been covered previously (and sorry for the :bonk:noob question but I've just started using the cheats), I've searched and can't find explicit mention. Does the use of cheats (i.e.: show me the money) affect the AI's game play?

I ask because I'm working back through Broodwar campaigns to get ideas for my own maps and I use SMTM to get to the good parts quicker. However, I just noticed on "To slay the beast" that my use of SMTM seems to have dramatically accelerated the appearance of the white and orange Guardians.

Does my use of the cheats also supply the same cheats to the computer AI?

Thanks

I dun think so. The ai should function accordingly to however its supposed to function, whether you do show me the money or someting for nothing.

conicidence?

no, it was a mere coincidence.

Besides, on to slay the beast both computers start with 330 000 minerals and gas, and thus 10k doesn't make a difference

Whoa! 330K. Looks like I need a keystroke macro to hit smtm 33 times just to even the score ;).

I know that if I play without the cheat, it's quite a while before the nasties show up, so there must be a trigger I'm hitting when I surge my building. Does anyone have a list of triggers for this one? I suspect that my creation of a horde of Guardians might have something to do with it.

Thanks,
Tim

Power overwhelming makes all comp attacks do 0 damage.(even to other comps)
Operation cwal makes comps build faster also.
I think black sheep wall works both ways as well.

Also "The Gathering" works for computers.

Black sheep wall doesn really work for a comp, they already know where you are and stuff. (i think)

The computer sees all. 0_0

This is not true. Protoss shields take damage very very very very slowly with power overwhelming on. So it can't be zero. But it is true that regular health takes no damage unless you're the one attacking.

Oops, I forgot about that. 1 damage per hit I think it is. Anyways, how can you tell if the comp sees you or not? lol

Yeah, the computer has black sheep wall running ALL of the time.

It's an officially well known fact that the comp AI knows where your base is.

Yeah, the computer has black sheep wall running ALL of the time.
no it doesnt rofl...

Look at these kids saying stuff like this.
Well, good thing that I researched this stuff a huge lot in the past.

Black sheep wall will affect both humans and computers. Wanna know how to see the difference? first place a barracks on the edge of the cliff. toggle black sheep wall on and off, when its on, hydras etc will shoot, when its off, they wont.

Show me the money affects both I believe

Poweroverwhelming affects other computers when they attack other computers. However, with correct trigger work I've been able to make it affect you too. In other words, you cant damage them either

etc.

But they dont USE the money they get or so really, so it doesn't matter much

I believe modify the phase variance in missions allows computers to build units they start with but were not intended to build as well

Most of the cheats work for computers but don't really do anything.

Pretty sure show me the money and operation cwal both affect computers cause my friend used it in a match and the computer just kept building and building without having to mine

Do I look like an idiot to you? I purposely went and tested it myself, thank you. Computers are NOT affected by 'show me the money'. Next time you decide to make claims, do some research first.

If you're still talking about 'show me the money', go make a 10 second replay and see for yourself.

Yes, but they still know where you are. If you go proxy an expansion, they immediately go attack it, without even scouting it first.

Next time you decide to make claims, do some research first.

Next time you make claims, show some proof. Screenshot, or something.

30 seconds to make a replay.

Show me the money does not affect the computer.

Black sheep wall does affect the computer. Every time I turn it on, any energy units (Queens, Dark Archons) come flying into my base to jack shit up. Cwal works too, which makes demolishing a comp base with that cheat on annoying.

thats just how they've been programmed and how the AI works. Besides, where the AI attacks will be random. For example later to the game wether it attacks your expo or your main is almost completely random.

The thing: You are using a computer. You are playing against it. What you see on your monitor is processed on the computer first, so technically the computer can see everything you do because it processes data.

I personally think AI's are biased.
