No it doesnt have to be mario or donkey kong. For example, on pc, my favorite game was. Knights of the Old Republic, aka KOTOR. I loved this game soooo much. It gave me soo much freedom but at the same time didnt get me lost in it's vast world. I loved the storyline and the gameplay. I think this game was revolutionary because it would let the player decide if they wanted to go to the dark side or the light. So kudos to KOTOR, for giving me a great journey.

Descent 1, 2, or 3, Descent: Freespace, Half-Life, Starcraft, Star Wars: Rogue Squadron, Star Wars: Jedi Knight (Dark Forces II), Star Wars: Dark Forces, Mario Party, Super Mario 64, Deus Ex, Unreal Tournament, Urban Asaault, NHL 94, Castlevania II and the classic Super Mario Bros. 2.

Whoo. Pick one. I liked all of them. They're quite simply old school. I can't really pick a favorite. I don't really favor one particular genre numbers-wise, but time-wise, I've logged more hours in those space sims (SW: RS, Descents 1-3 and Freespace 1/2) than any FPS thus far.

I made maps for that game till last autumn.

Other favourites are Lufia 2 on the SNES (Loved that as a kid, had a Dutch translation you see), SimCity 3000, Deus Ex, and that's about it I guess.

Might and Magic VI. You want old school? Check that out. First RPG I've ever played. EVER. Older than Starcraft. I think it's a 1994 release? 95? Anyways, it still ranks up there with some of my favorite games of all time. Even though my computers refuse to run it because it's so behind.

Umm, Streets of Rage 2 for Sega. I've beaten it a million times.

Mario kart 64 (N64) -or- Heroes of Might & Magic III (PC)

I didn't say Starcraft, because its a given.

Otherwise a real cool old school game is Blake Stone. Think wolfenstein, sci-fi style.

I'm surprised to see Descent players around here. I've been an avid fan for years -- I'd love to see a D4 or a remake of D1/D2.

A D4? That would be awsome. As well as a D1 remake. Though in all reality, the company that would make the remake would find some way to fuck it up:rolleyes:. So I'm 100% fine with my old copy of D1.

Original Doom owns. The sprites in this game were used for plenty of free online games too. How fun it is justifies how old skool it is. ;O

lol, You could have limited it your top 5 at the very least? ;)

One of my favourites (besides the fact that I used to spend a lot of time playing Probotector and Mario on the NES), was Dune 2:The Battle for Arrakis. A kick ass RTS released sometime 1990. Friggin awesome intense game.

For Adventure ,I think it would have to be Monkey Island 2:LeChuck's Revenge. One of the best Adventure games.

..Hmm, I think at least a couple more will come if I actually think a lot about this ^^;
