I had a quick question for you guys.
After watching some of the Intel Classic matches I felt the urge to go back and play some SC once again.
So I install it on my Mac (running Leopard 10.5) and get everything set up and start to play.
However there's a weird little graphical glitch that has popped up. I get a mouse cursor burned into the screen. It only happens when running in fullscreen and I can't find any way to get rid of it.
Anyone else having/had this problem? Is there a way to get rid of it? It's not a huge deal, just annoying.
I'm not 100% sure, but didn't Blizzard announce along a new patch that old macintoshes wont be able to run starcraft anymore?
I'm not familiar with macs, and I'm not sure which os X did it have to be so it wont work, but this might give a slight idea.
Mac users might be able to give further info as well.

Well I have an Intel Mac, and I got the OS X Installer from the Blizzard website.
I tried updating it to 1.15 and the problem still stayed. I'm thinking it might just be an issue with the newest version of OS X. Maybe they will put out another patch that fixes it.

Yeah, Ahzz, Leopard = new mac. I can't say I've ever had this problem... But I'm running Tiger with starcraft carbon.... Hmmm.....

I run Leopard as well, and I never had this problem before.
Does it give any errors? Is there something else running at the same time that can be causing this?
Maybe the installer doesn't properly work on OS 10.5 yet. I think that I didn't install SC on this computer, but just dragged the whole folder from my old OS X 10.4 computer to this one. But that's a long time ago so I don't know for sure :\
Hmm, sorry for not being versed in the Mac' scene but I've always been under the impression that Intel Mac's also had a Windows OS in'em. Maybe he could try to install SC-BW in it instead? :o
And btw, welcome on board NotWorkSafe. ;)

I run 1.15.2 on both a Mac Mini and a Mac Pro (both Intel - and yes, I own 2 copies...). In my case, I only see two issues -
Playback of cut scenes is choppy
Options do not save between sessions
Otherwise, all seems to be well.
Have you installed the 1.15.2 patch?

No no, not at all. Intel macs have the capability to run the Windows OS, but you first have to buy Windows and install it, or use somesort of Windows Simulator for it. It doesn't come on the computer by default.
I'm running SC:BW on an Intel mac under 10.5 .. and I haven't seen any of the issues either of you brought up in this thread.
Any slowness or choppy cutscenes can probably be attributed to the game running under Rosetta while being a Carbon app to begin with, thus utilizing legacy Classic code under-the-hood (ie the Blink video player technology used for Blizzard's cutscenes, etc).
As to your cursor becoming "burnt in" .. this sounds strange to me. Can you perhaps post a screenshot? You're saying you simply wind up with a cursor stuck somewhere inside of the game interface but then also are able to manipulate another cursor outside of that one?
Update: I did some searching around Blizzard and found this thread:

It appears to be a known issue that they're trying to track down. I'd suggest you post your system info in that thread as requested to help them find the hardware/software cause of the issue.
Tim: What do you mean options won't persist between sessions? Can you be a bit more specific?

I set my game speed to 2 and scroll speeds to 1, I dump music down to 0 and digital effects to 3 (I listen to my MP3s while playing :) ). Upon restarting, the settings are all back to the defaults and I have to watch the intro videos again.
I've installed both Starcraft and Broodwar packages into my ~/Documents/Games/ folder and am running 1.15.2 from the physical CDs.

Sounds to me like your problem is most likely corrupt preferences.. since it shouldn't play the intro video more than the first time.
Try deleting all preference files associated with Starcraft, you can find most in your
user folder -> Library -> Preferences.

Thanks, I'll give that a shot this evening.
