View Full Version : Should I be worried?

Well on monday I was playing live, when I came in contact with some boosters on Halo 3. It was a rumble pit crazy king match and they told me they were going to be away the entire game.

So i thought to my self, this will be a good time for me to get some easy medals. So instead of getting points from staying in the center, I went around and killed them all.

After five minutes they came back and yelled at me for killing them all this time. They then said they were going to hack my account, and steal my credit information. 99% of the time this would be a load of bull shit.

I told them that if they could actually do that then why waste those skills on my and why not go and hack an ATM or something. After the game they said they would remeber my tag.

But after looking through their played games, i noticed that one of them had aroung 5000 custom games that were only 4 second apart from each other. And no one had any kills in them either.

So i have a few questions, should i be worried about them hacking my x-box live account, what can i do(if anything) to stop them, and what would it take in all reality for them to hack my account.

They also said that infamous would have my gamertag soon. What ever the hell that means.

please calm my fear.

Report them to microsoft for hacking and/or stop BMing people who tell you they are afk.

Report this to Bungie immediately. If they can hack games like that, who knows what they could be capable of? Stay off Live for a while, or even change your GamerTag, if possible.

Stay indoors, son. :P

I highly doubt that they can hack your gamer tag and tag all known info. This would be incredidbly hard. Why would they wast there time on you and hack your account while they have the skills to do much better? If I was you, I would keep on playing Halo and procede with my life. There is a high chance that nothing will happen and all that you have will be fine...

But then again....

Nah, dont listen to my other thoughts. Im probably wrong about them anyways...

It is more likely that they are using someone elses' hack than that they are making their own; as such, they're unlikely to be able to get to you directly, though it's always a possibility; computers by nature aren't overly secure, and Xboxes can be modded to run Linux, so who knows?

Definitely report the guy with a ton of games for hacking, though. At the least, it'll get bungie looking at them.

Ask yourself what you have to gain by being "worried". Then make common sense, logical moves uninspired by hysteria. Report these people to Xbox Live as hackers. Play games as you otherwise normally would. Go outside, have fun. Stop worrying about things like XBL hackers.

well, i guess all of this is true. But if i do get hacked by someone...i'll find them and put them 3 feet below the ground with a gun with one bullet in it, alive... I not not that cruel to let them starve...

hahaha...i'm so fucking serious too....lol

The best way to kill someone is to give them a gun (Fully loaded), and put them in a glass box that has been buried underground. Equip it with a web camera and a light, as well as a ventilation system (All running off of a common battery).

Then send the CSI team the link to the web cameras page, and let the fun ensue.

Don't worry about a thing. They don't even know who you really are, so how can they retrieve bank accounts and cards?

Seriously, GM's will take care of those things immediately. All you have to do is report at http://www.xbox.com/en-US/support through the banner that says 'Ask XBOX Interactive Agent 24/7'. That should connect you to a GM through a chat protocol. My advice, look for Prima, Ganon, or Nexus. They are the best and most active GM's around.

Kid, you need an adult in your life. If I ever found my son typing shit like this I'd throw his fucking Xbox out the window and beat the shit out of him. It's a game. Do you understand?

You can spend your entire waking life playing this game to be as competitive as possible (because there are people doing this right now), and getting the highest markings feasible. In 3 years, a new game will come out and nobody will care about the old game and all your old marks. The only thing that will matter is the new game and the new marks, and you will have to start everything all over again. Except you'll be 3 years older, and having accomplished nothing of substance, a bit more pathetic.

Try watching some videos of WoW that are 2 years old--people wearing all the 2 year old gear strutting around trying to look cool...and now there are 11 year olds with better gear. Either you play games to enjoy them, you play them for money, or you're deluding yourself as to their meaning. You need a reality check.

Let me explain. I don't care about the game...that doesn't matter. In fact if they clear just my marks then that would actually be a benifit. It's them getting my information.

If they were to get my live account they have a lot to work with. Do you have any idea what some could do to your life with just where you live and your first and last name? Of corse you do...

So i don't need to tell you that they could open false accounts and credit cards that even if found and terminated will haunt you for the rest of your life. Even if they are caught useing my sisters credit information, it takes years and years of untangling to erase that mark on your record.

My sisters life would be rough for years to come if they stole her identity. Would you realy think I would do that to someone who did not wrong me badly? Becides seeing some jerk teen squirm in court would be satifying enough.

After see what happened to my friends parents who had their identity stolen, I am very afraid of it happening to me or anyone in my family. And his parents had theirs stolen(his moms actually) through the information they provided in a runescape acount. Someone hacked and nearly bankrupted them.

But you are entirly right about what said earlier. And i would never do that. Your talking to someone who finds it hard to kill an animal.

That said, if Microsoft takes security anywhere near as seriously as Blizzard does (which, well, I'm 99% sure they do) then your credit card information should not be accessible by someone who logs into the account. I know for a fact that WoW will not allow you to charge any new data to a credit card, but rather, only let you insert new info.

Worst case scenario, (given that if they were serious, it would've happened about 5 minutes after this event) they get your account and change the password. I doubt Microsoft lets someone who logs into an XBL account get access to credit card information, SSN, home address and other information.

Secondly, GA is right. You are one seriously fucked up kid if horrifying torture/murder is the logical punishment for someone who changes your XBL PW.
