What do you think makes gaming so addictive? Playing with friends? Being able to control and create? Post your thoughts! For me I think it's being able to go into a different world and experience things that you wouldn't in real life. Being able to do it with friends is just an added bonus. ;)

Speculation, really. I've always enjoyed video games to think, philosophize, and generally wonder about concepts brought forth in them. Deus Ex, for example, brought forward many controversial topics, such as human engineering, genetics, authoritative censoring, conspiracy, etc,.
Many games also intrigue me technology-wise, being the sci-fi nerd that I am. Creating anything with two clicks or simply a thought or keypress is astonishing. Co-existence with the machines is something that would be incredible and would surpass even computerization in the way of human advancement. Simply using your thoughts or simple motions to manipulate, rotate, combine, separate, remove or create objects without the use of much force at all would be tremendous -- I'm hoping to live long enough to see it.
I've also enjoyed a lot of games for the atmosphere and environments. I'm always on the lookout for a great freeware game that can create visceral, awe-inspiring, jaw dropping environments. And then I want to fly through them. (Any ideas?)

I agree with that, but what if games could be even more immersing? Think of slipping on a virtual reality helmet, but more sophisticated, and being able to see, hear, smell, touch, and taste your environment ( With an option to turn pain on and off, of course :P )?
It would be like being in another world, except you could do amazing things you couldn't normally do in real life. Imagine jumping off a building, and it feels every bit like real life, except you can breathe and when you hit the ground you just keep moving.
Of course, there would be many bugs to work out ( like getting stuck in the virtual world ). But, it would be a fun experience. Interesting idea, anyways.

Definitely escaping reality is my major thing. Then comes story, gameplay, and graphics.

Yeah..

I just love being a badass. Get to shoot the hell out of everything and be a hero. Wield dual lightsabers and kick the crap out of everyone... Ahhh so much fun.

A solid kickass story :P. For me.

But then again every element of a game is equally important, thus no game cannot be truly perfect. But that's their charm.
