Welcome to vB 3.7

There have been a slew of improvements - most notably, I think you'll find your user profile pages have been completely overhauled.

You can now go into your User CP's and customize some of the HTML that controls the appearance of your user profiles. Go wild! You can also now post messages on each others' profile pages, similar to other social websites.

Also you now have the ability to create social groups and invite whoever you'd like to those groups. Moderators and Admins still have access and can see whatever goes on in those groups you make, but other members can be invited or request to join your various groups. So go ahead and form a group for your latest RP or for your favorite SC race, whatever you want!

Threads can now be "tagged" with tags, keywords that you associate with that thread. Other members can also suggest additional tags to add via the panel near the bottom of each thread. You can then search through threads using these keywords to help guide you.

Another major addition is the adding of User Picture Galleries. These are your own mini-photo albums that you can maintain and manage on your own. They'll display inside your profile and you can link directly to each item. Other members can view / post on your images just as on other photo sharing sites like flickr.

There's also been a huge number of backend changes that the staff will discover as time rolls on, but just know that most of them are great timesavers for us to help fight spam and help keep things in order.

Alright guys, have fun! Enjoy, and let me know if there are any problems. I had to remove some of the older hacks in order to upgrade, so things like the youtube bbcode/etc will have to be added back slowly as we progress through this new version of vB.

Oh snap. Private messaging now has a BCC field. That will come in handy if/when Diplomacy ever takes off again. We could actually try to run an anonymous game (not that the community has enough members you couldn't guess who's playing, anyway).

This is tremendous! I love it! It'll revolutionize post reports! There's so much more that can be nitpicked now! I do like how many features there are, but there are so many now, it feels a little cluttered...I guess I'll have to get used to it. All hail AJ! :)

AJ, I know I've said it already, but you are awesome for the new up date... it looks so... FaceBookish... in a god way, are there any ways to stream line the controls though? They seem a bit bulky

I'm not sure I really care much for the social networking features added to this version of vBulletin. Being able to select contacts/friends for messaging is nice, but I really see no need for the friend thing, or the private message boards. Photo galleries are nice, though we could have just set up a Warboards group on flikr or something.

Anyway, I'm satisfied with the update overall; some of the new features just seem gimmicky attempts to imitate MySpace and Facebook. Of course, my blame does not center on AJ, but on the developers of vBulletin.

(And tags would be good if they weren't abused, but I doubt that the members in general, including the mods, could resist the temptation for long)
