Hello everyone, this is me iHawk (internet celebrity from 'Online Roleplaying' and IRC) coming to you with an idea that was brought up in IRC a short time ago by BioHazard. In a stroke of brilliance he thought up the idea of making a forum podcast devoted to the going-ons of the board. It could be entertaining, informative and above all else something we desperately need; A Community Project. Think about it; Warboards has around 40 thousand members registered, but only a few hundred tops post actively and many are like myself, sticking solely to our own little corner of the boards forming niches instead of one united community. Even it it's not this Podcast idea, we need something, anything to reunite the boards before activity slips enough that AJ pulls the plug.

The Podcast idea would be run by the regular members, the mods could help out if they're willing but in all honesty they're busy enough running the site, this would be something in our hands as the community. Ideally we would release weekly on the forums, and discuss current threads, blizzard games, maybe some tidbits about the different sections of Warboards to show everyone what's happening in places they might not visit themselves. Really, it wouldn't be too hard to fill a ten minute audio (or even video, although that's less likely and larger files to toss around) podcast with what's going on. Sort of an audio-based newsletter like we used to have, it was run by regular members then and for a while it flourished. Why not again? (and longer)

So here's the thing, see that poll at the top of the screen? Yeah, basically let us know if you're interested in the idea or not, or even if you're interested in participating with the project's creation. If you have criticism or comments, or other community building ideas throw them around in this thread, I'll be glad to hear from all of you.

Great idea. We need more of these things. :)

I'll do my best to help and participate in this event.

Intriguing.

I was sorta sad the Newsletter fell through. I blame dunchy.

But seriously, I'd like to see something like this just to help get a tighter-knit community and make us seem friendly instead of the anti-social douchebags we come off as in the IRC ;p

Nice idea, really. I like it.
I wouldn't do it to often though, as it would spam my itunes (i want to hoard them all, ofcourse)

I have....a radio announcer voice(according to kong and ihawk anyways), and sometimes a mic.

I'm in, well, whenever I have a mic, anyways.

So, who's leading it, and who's hosting the podcasts?

Protogod

I'd imagine since ihawk started the idea, he would have some role leading/producing it. (obv)

Can never be too sure and seem like an idiot in the end. :)

I hope I'm not being too forward when I ask if we could include an official section of the podcast.

Just a segment for you to mention some news or whatnot that needs to be released or mentioned on behalf of the staff, just included in the podcast.

Wow... it seems everyone loves the idea. I wouldn't mind hosting/compiling the podcast for upload (to Kupax probably, I'm not sure how to set up a proper podcast TBH... so an audio-file for download will probably be it unless someone else knows more of the technical aspects). By the looks of things I need to research Podcast-Production some more, and find a way to organize things so that we can throw together a trial/first podcast, probably talking about the purpose of each board, and/or introducing the crew that'll be working on said podcast. If I figure out how to record Skype convos we can even also start having interviews of staff/random members.

Anyone working on the Podcast can find me on IRC most nights, or by MSN/email (ansuz.raido@gmail.com) or even Skype (parkinsonsdisease). We should try and get organized, throw some ideas around and try thing thing out :D

If it is truly a community venture, then just like the dotorg, i will host it on WB's servers for us -- and use vB's internal controls so that it can be syndicated and distributed via iTunes as well.

Cool let's do this :D Maybe we can all arrange for a time to be on Skype or something and record from there :D

In the effort to better organize ourselves, I'm going to make a Social Group for this that'll be invite only. Anyone that voted saying they'd be interested in helping out will get an invite in the next day or so, only members of the group will see what goes on inside so you'll have some privacy when it comes to handing out emails and Skype names. It'll also let us keep up-and-coming content on the down-low should this get off the ground and become a continuing thing :)
