Ok dont know why blizz leave sc without ladder and w2 or 3 who arent so popular, or diablo, still have ladder... We should make a petition or something about that.
I tried to figure out how Leagues work, but to much stuff to read or understand, but i think is a dead thing, nobody play these leagues, or little players anyway. Prolly wgtour is still the best, but wonder if there is some fun
So the question is what is this league button in Starcaft menu and if there are many players or leagues.

iccup. Everyone (excluding bad ppl such as me) plays it and is really popular.

Yes, it is ICCUP (http://sc.iccup.com/) (International Cyber CUP). There players are ranked according to their skill and I dare say it is very accurate. There are players there from every skill level. From retarded n00bs to gosu koreans.

They took away ladder mainly because it's so worthless, the first 800 were people who had winbotted their accounts up to 9999 and the next 200 were people who winbotted their account to 9000+.

And I don't think warcraft 3 is any less popular then starcraft, fyi

I beg to differ. Now, World of Warcraft on the hand...

but yeah, Blizzard basically stopped running the ladder because they couldn't control (aka didn't want to spend the resources on controlling) hackers and win-botters.

warcraft 3 is more popular outside of korea almost anywhere, but starcraft is so popular in korea that korean gamers alone are more than all wc3 gamers.

Silver crusader you are very correct that ICCup is a great place but I beg to differ that there are ubern00bs or whatever. Considering you start at 'D' a 'D+' or 'C-' person is above average on Battle.net.

Albeit it is the best place to learn it may seem frustrating because people are very good, at least better than, the average Battle.net game.

Anyway, ICCup would be considered the starcraft ladder.

But kirbyman1 and Ahzz play ICCUP. So my point is satisfied.

Besides I think that D- is pretty ubernoob, maybe not quite as noob as "1v1 lt noobs only" games at eur tho.

lol all im saying is that if you are relatively new to starcraft or have not been working on your melee there will be almost definetly no easy wins. It may be disheartening if you dont like to lose but over all it is the best place to learn.

Starcraft is unique(older) than other games(addictions) in that so many players have been playing it for so long, that if you are just starting to play the game you are basically fucked. If you've been playing (for fun) for less than a couple of months those 1v1 LT noobs games are still places for you to get raped. Anyway, what I'm getting at is that most people refer to players as noobs that have been playing for a while, simply because the skill level of some has gotten so high.

ICCUP is pretty freakin' hard. Even for me, and I'm naturally amazing at this game. I'm talking God's gift to SC here, and I still have trouble getting to D+.

I digress.

Same here *Flexes muscles (or lackthereof)*

Seriously though, as far as n00bs go on ICCUP there are a few (i.e. the guys I've beaten) but for the most part a noobier player will most likely just get frustrated playing there. It's not like on battle.net where you want to play people that are better than you, but more that you'll get assraped within the first 7-8 minutes and learn nothing...

You'll learn how to last 9-10 minutes. ;)

So I shouldn't go there :) Maybe I'm not that bad but I'm willing to bet that it will be better for me to learn on Battle.net first.

Touche Capt'n.

Although I still think that "1v1 LT Noobs" is a better place to start

well, its enough if you know what you should vaguely do to go to the 1v1 normal games, not noobs. It's important that you play stronger opponents, but if you play those who are ridiculously stronger than you, you wont learn anything, unless he just fools around. Therefore iccup is only a place for you when you can KEEP D at almost all times.
