I see alot of maps that have wide ramps, north facing ramps, wide bridges, etc. Which editor is that done in? I tried starforge, but it was too complicated.

Any map editor that can do rectangular terrain and copy/paste doodads.
ScmDraft2 is the only one that I know of.

ok, i got SCMdraft, but how do i place the different ramps and bridges? I tried copying them and pasting them together, but it only pastes the terrain.

You're misunderstanding. Inverted/widened ramps aren't doodads, they ARE terrain.
Oh and StarForge can do it as well.

Right. Wide and/or backwards ramps are created through meticulously placing terrain one square at a time. Takes practice but it's not difficult to create widened ramps that look decent. Just time consuming. Inverted ramps on the other hand are a bit more difficult.

See if that'll help
IFellDownstair, I just would like to say a couple things... 1st, welcome on board. :)
And the 2nd one is that both advanced editors (SCMDraft 2 or SF) can make those kind of ramps but SCMDRaft 2 has the advantage of allowing you to copy-paste maps' portions to place in others or other places inside the same map. It just depends on what you want to copy. ;)

doodads and terrain are essentially the same thing. If you place doodads with staredit, then open the map up with an editor that can place square terrain (such as starforge), the doodads are converted into terrain. In those editors, you can directly place doodads with square pallets as if they were terrain.

That's not entirely true, I mean, SCMDraft 2 still recognizes Doodads as "Doodads". But it is possible to convert them into their separate sprite and terrain portions, yes.

That's arguable, since terraining is very easy. Once you get the blend, you don't need to make it anymore; you can just copy and paste it.

I guess that's true for SCMDraft2, but I use starforge and it converts doodads into terrain.

Select the doodad, right click on it, then click on "Convert to terrain". After that, you can copy and paste the different parts of the ramps.
