Yes, an unbelievable task come true! After many attempts I succeeded. It both surprised me and got butterflies in my stomach.

I beat the god damn computer! w00t xD
It always somehow get a mega army and expansions left and right quickly, but this time I used my 5th SCV to scout and quickly found it, made a bunker with a few rines in it and after that deployed a light M&M assault on the pesky zerg. I got down quite a few lings with my so "uber" micro(:P), and even many hydras, before retreating. My next task was sending in 2-3 tanks and sieged the only entrance to the base. After that I made an uber army because i was expecting a big fight, but it was quickly over with a few expansions destroyed and then put my 70-man army on the little main base!

Victory, at last!!

Welcome to your first step into the starcraft realm of skill.

Although it isn't that great an achievement to us, I congratulate you. All of you other starcraft players must remember when you were a newbie and just beat the computer as well. Mabye you should try to beat the computer with any race, or play several at once, like many of us people here can. After that you can try going onto battle net and playing other humans.

Well im glad you did something that was hard for you and i congradulate you, but honestly the skill level of a computer is simply pitiful. From your starcraft dialect it seems you know something about this game, expansions are key, tanking his entrances, and M&M against zerg, im surprised it took you this long to kill a computer, i managed to before i knew what a 'rine' was. I will guess that this is because of macro/bo. What you can get hooked on is building an army, then fooling around with it (micro) you finally lose it and then have nothing left to support you and your main is mined out. I would suggest learning some build orders and watching your macro and with this im sur eyou could be much better.

Also, battle.net is a much better place to learn, albeit more fustrating, computer strategies are not good and when you beat a toss computer and then go to a toss player you will be very surprised at how differently they play.

Wow hehe, I'm surprised to see this many replies :)
I've realized what I've done wrong, I've been turtling too much and been late on the offense, letting the enemy exp all over the map before me doing anything against it.

I'm grateful for all your advices, thanks.

BTW, reason behind all these SC terms is just because i read a lot on teh_intarwebz :D

Good for you

this is the first step

the comp sucks you will realise
Zerg dont rush, bases are spread out too much and the comp never uses any advanced stratergies

but you are still young and you may celebrate this victory while it lasts
keep gaming and never lose hope

You'll find to become the best at starcraft (as a foreigner) is probably the single hardest task in the world.

You'll find to become the best at starcraft (as a foreigner) is probably the single hardest task in the world.

Koreans rule the top ten. Or the top fifty. I don't remember.

Your next step is to be able to beat all three races with the computer.

Then multiple computers.

When you can beat 5-6 computers at once, move on to Battle.net.

Play against people of different races. Play against people of your same skill level or above (don't go newb smashing...it won't be fun for either player). Save replays (whether you won or lost) and study them.

When you get good, go play some ladder. Try to climb up the ranks 'til you're #1.

Thank you all again, and I'm slowly improving.
It's still a little uncomfortable though not being IN the battlefield fighting, due to all my years of FPS'ing and getting pr0 at them, And suddenly becoming a newb again :D

Hope to battle some of you when i get good, which is in about... 10 years or so? :P

Haha dont worry. Ive played for ehh 1-2 years of normal maps and i would consider my self above average for warboards standards, of course Lammas and Ahzz are incredible but after them we dont have man outstanding players, so im sure your not that far off. And deadkat, beating 5-6 computers? That is incredibly pointless, time consuming, and difficult. Very possible, not saying that at all, but who can definetly move on to Battle.net much before beeing able to beat 5-6 computers. Once you get up past 2 its just macro training really, standard build orders or strategies aren't even used then

meh, once you can beat 2-3 when they have ANY races you've got enough speed and basic skills to learn for reals. No point in multiplying the comps after that.

Oh man, did a random on the comp and it became a TvT :D

It got pretty intense, both me and the bot going rine+tank, though the bot teched further and went for wraiths. But i discovered something wonderful, 1 marine + a medic can take out a single wraith flawlessly!
So I built a bunch of that combo and blocked the bot in a corner with sieged tanks.

I'm surprised by the depth of how different unit combos bring so many more strats that can change the tide of the battle! :o

great you are learning something but just a little more critique on the wonderful AI blizzard has given us.

In TvT you went tank + marine vs tank + marine
Dont you think just plain tank would beat the fewer tanks and additional marines? Albeit that might be a little gas heavy so what should you do with the extra minerals? Not marines but i would build SCV's, Turrets, Goliaths + expo. TvT is generally a tank battle =/ infantry is almost pointless

oh the good old times... When I had just started sc and a couple of games later (I never played campaign) I won my first game vs comp! And what an epic game it was! For some reason my friend at school who I told about it wasnt as impressed as I thought he would be ooa

And yes pain if right just make 100% tank in that situation and if you have have spare minerals expand.

I remember the comp days.

You need to decide what sort of games you want to play.
Tactics used against the comp are not effective PvP, in fact after a while of playing and even excelling at the comps you will find that your habitual play style will lead you to disaster in PvP.

its the same in reverse as well, if you get into PvP for a long time you will find the comps put up a surprising challenge simply because the style is so different. though the rapid tech style of PvP can be used effectively it takes allot more work and management when dealing with the comp. Against a human they are most likely using a rapid tech approach as well, if they aren't and you have reached your higher tech at a speedy rate you have them, I guarantee it. (once you learn how to use the higher techs)

If you like playing the comps I recommend trying a 3v1 melee on lost temple, custom it, so you can use the insane scripts. If you don't know how to custom a map just say so, we will help :)

I assume you mean customing it with the Campaign Editor?
If not, please enlighten me please :D

Yup with the map editor, you can really step up the difficulty to give your self a more challenging game.

I applied what I suggested to a copy of Lost Temple. Just download it and give it a go if you like. It will be hard, very hard, but many have done it.

Toucan lol when you say PvP i keep thinking toss v toss not player v player.

And honestly comps put up a challenge if you forget what to do. Once in a while ill play a TvP (me T) against a comp to work on macro/micro and stuff and i get so used to 1 gate that there like 16 lot rush or what ever catches me off gaurd, but if you remember what a comp will do its an easy win. Remember toss zlot pushes, terran MM's and zerg is just ling/hydra and you should easily win...

Still, zilver, play againt players you will learn so much more. and dont customize the map, trying downloading AI mods. Lol i was playing that earlier... PvT on Python. The mod is called like Ahzz 1.5

Im pretty sure Ahzz made that hes the only sc player i know called Ahzz =P

Now thats a challenge better than half the players on battle.net

And i really had a kick when after our 60 minute battle i watched the rep and the player name was TossGirl =D

I've done a few battle.net matches, obviously on noob servers. But most of the games i win are with terran(me)+zerg vs basically anyone, where the zerg mass mutas and some lings, while i mass tanks.
It seems very effective with lings doing the initial assault(getting attention), so that my tanks can siege up in the middle of base and destroy everything while mutas kill infantry attacking my tanks.

But often in the end of the game i have maybe 4-5k minerals and 1,5k gas unused. Guess I gotta build more raxes and factories.

Great. Posting replays would be helpful aswell, it will help us analyze this easier.

I hope you not playing on 'Fastest' or 'Zero Clutter' maps.

Also, to get the most out of a game 1v1's ussually give you the most all around expereince
